Question about 1998 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

Electrical?? I have a problem with my dash board. Every time it rains, my whole dash quits working. I have regular tackometers except for my mileage and trip is digital. Here lately it may even do it when it hasn't rained. After awhile htay will all come back on and start working. My husband said it feels like the actual running of the van is different when the dash quits working like maybe a loss of power. Any idea of what it could be would be appreciated. Thank You, Stephanie

My 1989 S-10 pick up digital dash board lights are out. In a recent heavy rain they came on for two days and are out again. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

wow, where to start. check all fuses under dash. try to push all wire connectors under dash together serching for a lose connection. however with them coming on during a hard rain you may have a short. (worst case senario) a wiring harness replacement is within reason. just quite time consuming to install!

Hi I have a 2000 ford crown Victoria and my dash board light where my mileage and gas needle is at does not come on when I turn the switch on but all the other lights that are suppose to come on with the...

There are bulbs in the instrument cluster and they are probably bad. You will have to take the instrument cluster out of the dash and take each bulb out individually to see which one is bad then replace it/them and reinstall the instrument cluster back in the dash. It sounds a lot harder than it really is.

Hello, I own a 1998 Altima (GXE). 160 000 km. For the last two days, the motor temperature guage needle indicates low motor temperature (1/4 between the C and the H). Yesterday I was in heavy traffic for...

First thing is the that the coolant temperature sensor is quite different to the temperature sender that is monitored on your dash board. Assuming everything is working fine the thermostat may be stuck open. This would cause coolant to be circulated without restriction and so remaining cooler than usual even when the engine is at running temperature.

tach is most likely a cam sensor, hvac could be a bad vacuum problem (bad hose ) the electrical (dash stuff) I would start looking for a loose or bad ground wire or dirty battery terminals

I have a 92 seville and the digital part of the dash doesnt work and all fuses are good. What could be the problem?

The most common problem for this is dry solder joints on the board. You will have to remove the board and examine for cracked/dry solder joints.
They look like this:

Resolder them and you should be away. They are most common on cars that live on rough or gravel roads, the vibrations create them. In some cases i've heard of people rubber mounting the boards to reduce the vibration.
