The Fuel Filter is located on the Drivers Side Frame Rail slightly forward of the Fuel tank. It will have a Clamp bolted to the Frame Rail. If attempting to change it, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY and work OUTDOORS away from your home or garage. Fuel is under pressure in the neighborhood of 35-45 PSI and the tubing feeding forward to the engine must be carefully disconnected, the Bolt holding the filter must be removed, then the Fitting connected to the Rear of the Filter must be loosened to remove the filter. Be sure to obtain proper "Fitting wrenches" (Metric) typically 17mm for the fitting on the Fuel line and probably 19mm on the end of the Filter casing.. Be careful not to damage the Fitting on the Fuel Line and careful not to damage the swagged end of the tubing which goes into the Inlet end of the Filter. If this sounds like something you may not want to tackle yourself, take it to a reputable service facility with certified mechanics. If the Inlet fitting is badly rusted take it to a GM Dealer that has seen and fixed this problem many times. Unfortunately the Fitting on the line resembles a "Flare Nut" but is not identical and made of mild steel. The matching fitting on the Filter is Stainless Steel. Typical factory savings of a few pennies per unit produced! They should have used either Stainless Steel or Brass to make it easier to service. Those of us whom live in the Northern States such as Michigan deal with Salted roads in the winter know what corrodes and what doesn't.
