I just bought a 1999 lincoln town car. when we were coming from Providence R I, I stopped to fill it up. I continued to press the fuel nozzle after it fill up to make it come out on a n even number to help figure out gas mileage. When we got back home we took a short trip & the gas tank showed half full. We ran out of gas. When I tried to fill it up it took only 9 gallons & would not take any more gas. I know the tank hold 17.9 gallons. Is there a problem with the air vent possibly being clogged up, maybe a mud dobber. I know some vehicles have a automatic stop on the gas flow in case the vehicle overturns. I do not believe the fuel sensor would cut off my gas sending unit even if it was faulty.

The electronics and modules will tell the reason. It sounds like a computer network issue. You need a mobile auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer.
there is aservice bulletin on this problem its usually caused by the filler tube vent getting plugged with dirt or spider nest you need to have car on lift to get to hose check hoses going to charcoal canister harryO924
The Stock Air Bags self Leveled, your new System should have come with PAperwork or is there a Air Nozzle that you have to fill? The Bags should come with a Pressure Window for a Firmer Ride or Softer Ride.
EACH MANUFACTURER has their Own Particular limits and ranges...
The fuel tank fill tube or fill tube vent pipe for the fuel tank is either clogged with something or the anti-siphon feature (what stops people from stealing your gas) is fouled up. The tank and fill tube have to be inspected.
had the same problem changed the lcm (lighting control module) problem solved bought it on e-bay for $110 dollars. :)
That module is $435 from lincoln. Good Luck!
when you say "froze up"can you turn the engine over by hand?if it won't start with a key the maybe your battery and/or connections need attention or was there a flood while you were gone, for instance was the car full of water when you opened the doors?Did someone else drive it?seriously,do the dash lights come on?do the interior lights come on?As far as why, well ones never knows why things happen, lets just call it providence.
you need to check the hose that runs parallel to the gas line filler tube to make sure it's not blocked (for the life of me i can't think of the name of that tube at the moment).
Also i presume you have tried different gas pumps to rule out a defect in the pumps nozzle.
