Hi, get a new coil or if there are individual coils on each cylinder, get out the check book!?!?. They are prone to failing individually and nickel diming you. It is definately a coil issue.

2001 ford expedition theft light flashing rapidly and vehicle won't start only happens when it rains

because you say it only happens in the rain leads me to believe that there is a bare wire connected to the ignition that is now jumping to another because of the water/moisture around it also the actual computer's connector can not be tight enough and is letting the moisture in then when the weather is dry the car starts and runs fine all day long things to check are /a/ all ignition related wires for the computer /the coils/the computer /the power distribution box under the hood must be inspected any wire related to the theft pats system will activate the antitheft system so check that to and also look for moisture inside the vehicle a new windshield may be leaking a small amount of water in and it's making contact with the pats unit on the steering column or the wires

Stalls when rains

Depending on the year, it's likely bad wires or a bad distributor cap. You can recreate the problem when it's dry by filling a squirt bottle with salt water and spraying the wires with it while the truck is running. You'll either get a nice light show or it will start to stumble/stall.

My 2001 Ford Taurus stalls and the "check engine"

Moisture is getting into and shorting a component in the electrical system, killing the spark. Someone is going to have to identify where and fix it.

I put my car up 4 the winter it was running great.... I pulled it out it was running great.... it rained real bad and a lot of moisture it would start for 3 months.... then it started back up running great...

Check spark plug wires and ignition parts, try using WD-40 type of moisture remover. Ignition coils tend to react to moisture if it gets inside.

sounds like moisture is getting in the way of your spark ,how old are the plugleads, dist cap etc,all get affected by water as they get older.

2000 Nissan Frontier starts to stall when raining out

does your model of vehicle have a distributor? if so, there is likely moisture getting inside. Replace the cap and check to make sure the seal isnt broken.

Chevy s10 stalls when wet

Check your spark plug wires, you may have a crack in one of the wires that is allowing moisture to enter, and water and electricity don't mix.

2002 chevy blazer won't start when it is cold/damp outside. Fuel pump repaced 3 times in a year. What could causing this?Starts fine when weather is nice.

could be a defective distributor cap(crack in it allows moisture in...moisture displaces the spark from where it needs to go).
You could try to replace the distributor cap and rotor.

Starting in damp weather 1993 240 wagon, auto/od, 235k miles

perhaps you need a new cap and roter a new spark plug wire set. they don;t like moisture. also check to see if you have any broken or leaking vacuum hoses. the worse case senerio would be that your head gasket is leaking--at cold temps a little antifreeze will enter until everything warms up and it seals shut due to metal expanding. but since you say it's cold weather only--this probably wou;dn't be the case. good luck.

Starts hard when it rains

cover the distributor cap with plastic and the high voltage coil.

with a damp environment, high voltage usually jumps to the nearest ground and would not go to the spark plug.

you can test this at night when it is damped and raining, at night, let some body start the car for you and you watch the engine compartment without light so that you can trace where the spark is jumping out.

tnx 4 using fixya,
