Jack car up under lower A arm and put a bar under tire and pry up while someone looks to see if there is play in the upper or lower ball joint

You could replace to be safe if the car is over 15 years old

You could follow a test proceedure for your car,
which I don't have, and you never said what you have,
and the test isn't of much value anyway, unless the
joint is really worn

How can you tell if u need to replace a ball joint on a 90 Crown Victoria?

Jack the car up using the frame so the wheel hangs. Grab the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock and push/.pull. If a ball joint is bad the wheel will move. Any movement in the wheel means replacing the ball joint. While you have the car up, check the tie rod ends by doing the same thing at 3 and 9 o'clock. again, any movement means replacement.

To check the joints jack the wheel off the ground by the lower control arm and putting one hand on the top of the wheel and the other on the bottom try moving the wheel in and out. If you can then one or both ball joints are bad. Have someone move the wheel and watch the joints you will see if one or both are bad. While the wheel is off the ground move the wheel from side to side, that will tell you if you have bad steering linkage. You don't have to hold the steering wheel straight when changing the joints. But you will need an alignment when your done. Note; When installing the new parts try to get them as close to up and down as you can. Also if you change the tie-rods count the turns and install the new tie-rods to the same turns.

Will bad front ball joints cause excess wear and tear on my front tires?

I vote yes. Any worn component of the front end be it ball joints,tie rods,wheel bearings,even tire balance will adversely affect tire wear.

Do Buick lesabre 1993 have rear ball joints, and if soo, how do you tell if it is bad, and how would you go about replacing it.. Thank you

YES. jack the car up and shake the wheel side to side. if the ball joint is bad the wheel will feel loose. to replace , you remove the tire, brakes,and unbolt the strut. then you separate the ball joint from the spindle, then press the old joint out of the control arm and then press the new one in . reassembly in reverse procedure and then have the car aligned.

The extent of damage is literally impossible for any of us to give you an honest diagnosis without seeing it. Have it towed to a local competent shop near you and have them look at it. (sorry)

How do i check the ball joints 99 xplorer 4x4

Hello;
To check ball joints is relatively easy. There is a load carrying ball joint and a pivot ball joint. The pivot joint gets minimal wear. To check the load ball joint, jack up the wheel to be checked. With about an 1" of clearance off the ground, place your hand on top of the tire and wityh a long sturdy bar under the tire, move the bar up and down. Feel for lateral movement at the wheel. you want to make sure that the wheel bearings are good and the movement is slight if any.
