The shaft has what are called splines and if the shaft gets twisted the clutch is unable to move on the shaft and would require replacement

1993 4runner SR5. How do I replace the clutch?

Well it depends if it is a manual you have to take back drive shaft off and drop transsmission but if it is automatic you may just be able to drop your belhousing and take off bolts holding clutch and swap it out

1984 transmission wines in all gears 5 spd trans am 305 engine. How can i get the wine to go away?

If this vehicle is an automatic ....the whinning your hearing is the bearing on the oil pump in the torque converter. Time for a new transmission.
If its a stick the noise may be the throw out bearing of the clutch. Time for a new clutch.
If it is a stick and your replacing the clutch have the pilot bearing and input shaft (of transmission) bearing replaced, and if the fly wheel doesn't have any meat on it replace it.

1991 toyota 4runner new trany leals oil from between the engine and trany only when hot. does this trany have a vent line, where is it. is there problems with the input shaft seal??? please help

I beleive its going to be your input shaft seal. Even if a new one was installed, some times on installation can get messed up. If you had the tranny job done in a shop and still under warranty, take it back, they should fix it no charge.

good luck

Need Directions to Replace clutch in a1993 5spd.toyota 4runnerV6

start off bt taking off your shifter, then disconnect the wires, cables, and the 4x4 linkage, the drop out both drive shafts, support the tranny and transfer case then remove the tranny mount. take out the bolts on the bell housing that go into the motor the pull out the slave cylinder, and the last thing to remove is the cross member that holds up your tranny. after that slide the tranny back about 6 inches tor until it's free from the block and lower it down. after you get it on the ground pull of out clutch fork that is in the bell housing of your tranny, pull the bearing off the shaft that is in the bell housing as well. and last but not least take off the clutch plate ans the clutch disk that is on the fly wheel on your block. and i cant stress this enough be careful when you pull the tranny out and make sure it will not fall on you. so please do it carefully. And take your time.

My 1989 5 spd cherokee clutch "popped" while driving home. Is there a spring that broke? What do you think?

What do you mean by "popped" After the popping, what does the pedal feel like now? As far as I know, the clutch control "linkage" on your vehicle is hydraulic. Inspect system for leaks, replace failed parts & bleed. If problem is with the clutch itself, transmission needs to be removed and all components inspected and replaced as needed.
