Question about Daewoo Lanos

Small steady water leak from the left rear side of the 1600CC engine, and this was after a new 'Head' was installed because of a broken 'timing belt'. Car is a 2000 Daewoo Lanos Coupe. All the hoses seem to be attached properly, at least those in the front of the engine. The amount of water loss is 'slight', as shown in the expansion tank, but the puddle on the floor is about 1ft. across. Nothing seems visible from the top. The leak seems to come from an area about 25% from the left side-rear of the engine against the Firewall(But not the Firewall, just that area)

Might possibly be a leaking heater core or a freeze plug on the side of the engine. A small leak might be patched up with some radiator sealer but I would show the leak to the mechanic who repaired the cylinder head first. Hopefully he missed something minor and solve your problem with ease.

This is really a suzuki G16 engine question
thats ok,
The G16s are used on Suzuki's and Trackers
Vitara's , Esteems, no others world wide.

I have all the photos and books on those cars.
real books and all parts lists. on them , graphics tool.
the freeze plugs (core plugs on all over.)
IN 1996 only one engine, G16b.
But all G16 blocks these are the same.
sides on all G16 base blocks.
2 left side 1 above filter, one just to rear of that, they are huge.
have to be blind to miss left side, (left means same as left car door)

the problem here is there are 2 engines in 1995, then one in 1996
the heads on both engine are NOT THE SAME>
the head is 8v and 16valves heads
and the 16v has freeze plugs in the top ,next to the cam. inside under valve cover !!!.

why not say where the leak is so we can narrow the search. or state the JOB?????????

i have photos of all parts in any G16.
there are no freeze plug in any 8valve head.
but the 16v yes !!!
the 16v head small inside plugs, if leaking turn the engine oil to milk chocolate fast and worse of driven. (just undid worst)

the blocks are the same, both engines, not pistons,
there are no front or rear engine block freeze plugs only side plugs 4 total.
and sure the right side under intake man will be hard to see. look under car right side to see em.
2 left easy to see and 2 right harder.
the right engine block has 2 freeze plugs one in easy view center , under intake man.
and one tucked behind that water manifold that can leak too.
now the last plugs
the 16valve head has a front freeze plug behind the cam cog wheel. and none on the rear of the head.
so 1 front and 3 inside, top.
My guess, G16b has 8 plugs total.
G16a has 4.

things that go POP in the night (cold night)
the rear water outlet fitting (head) does explode every time one runs this head on pure water, frozen, ask my how I know that, and what clueless girl did that,, heheheheheheheheh

I need the head bolt torque specification for a 2005 aveo


install:
  1. The cylinder head should be cleaned and inspected prior to installation.
  2. Lightly oil all bolt and stud bolt threads before installation.
  3. Clean all gasket mating surfaces thoroughly.
  4. Install a new head gasket on the cylinder block. WARNING Always use new cylinder head bolts when installing the cylinder head or damage to the engine may occur.
  5. Install the cylinder head on the cylinder block.
  6. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in reverse of the removal sequence. Tighten the 2004 cylinder head bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). Tighten an additional 70°, plus 70°, plus another 50°. Tighten 2005 bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). Tighten an additional 60°, plus 60°, plus another 10°.
  7. Install the right engine mount. Tighten the engine mount attaching bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  8. Install or connect the following:
    • Intake manifold
    • Intake manifold support bracket. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    • Throttle cable
    • Surge tank coolant hose
    • Heater hose to cylinder head
    • Fuel feed line at the fuel rail
    • All vacuum hoses
    • Exhaust manifold
    • Rear timing belt cover
    • Timing belt tensioner. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    • Idler pulley. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    • Intake and exhaust camshaft gears. Tighten the bolts to 49 ft. lbs. (68 Nm).
  9. Apply a small amount of gasket sealant to the corners of the front camshaft caps and the top of the rear camshaft cover-to-cylinder head seal.
  10. Install the valve cover using a new gasket
  11. Align the timing marks on the camshaft gears.
  12. Align the mark on the crankshaft gear with the notch at the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.
  13. Install the timing belt and rotate the water pump clockwise to apply tension to the timing belt.
  14. Tighten the water pump bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  15. Adjust the timing belt tension.
  16. Install or connect the following:
    • Spark plug wires
    • Upper and lower timing belt coversCrankshaft pulley. Tighten the bolt to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm), plus an additional 30°, then another 15°.
    • Accessory drive belt
    • Air cleaner housing
    • Radiator hoses
    • Front splash shield
    • Right front wheel
    • Coolant temperature sensor
    • Fuel feed line from fuel rail
    • IAT sensor
    • Intake manifold pressure sensor
    • DIS coil connector
    • Fuel injector connectors
    • ECM ground terminal
    • Negative battery cable
  17. Fill the engine with oil and coolant.

I need to know how i can get to my water pump and what all i need excatly to fix it


  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
  3. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose.
  4. Remove the radiator fan motor assembly.
  5. Remove the accessory drive belts.
  6. Remove the timing belt, tensioner and camshaft angle sensor. Refer to the procedure in this section for removal and installation steps.
  7. Remove the left side camshaft pulley(s) and left side rear timing belt cover. Remove the tensioner bracket.
  8. Disconnect the radiator hose and heater hose from the water pump.
  9. Remove the water pump retainer bolts.
  10. Remove the water pump.

To install:
  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces thoroughly. Always use new gaskets during installation.
  2. Install the water pump and tighten the bolts, in sequence, to 7-10 ft. lbs. (10-14 Nm). After tightening the bolts once, retighten to the same specification again.
  3. Inspect the radiator hoses for deterioration and replace as necessary. Connect the radiator hose and heater hose to the water pump.
  4. Install the left side rear timing belt cover, left side camshaft pulley(s) and tensioner bracket.
  5. Install the camshaft angle sensor, tensioner and timing belt.
  6. Install the accessory drive belts.
  7. Install the radiator ran motor assembly.
  8. Install the radiator outlet hose.
  9. Fill the system with coolant.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  12. Check for leaks.

2001 ford taurus 3.0-engine leak behind left rear engine head-car runs good-does not overheat-cannot find leak-no leaks in radiator or heater hoses or water pump.


It may be the freeze plug in the back of the head leaking, it looks like a small round cup about the size of a quarter it presses into the back side of the head, to remove hit the outer side of the inside of the cup with a screwdriver and hammer. To install use the apropriate size deep well socket with extension to hammer the new one in don't hit it in too far just until flush and also use permetex black sealant around the rim before installing to ensure a good seal also drain antifreeze completely before attempting job and be sure the seat where the freeze plug is going into is clean and dry.

Cylinder Head Assembly
Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect connector of intake air temperature
sensor from intake air duct.
3. Remove PCV hose from air intake duct.
4. Remove nut from air intake duct bracket and loosen
hose clamp on throttle body. Remove air intake duct
assembly with air cleaner cover.
5. Remove intake air duct bracket from cylinder head.
6. Drain engine coolant.
7. Move drive belt tensioner to loose side using wrench
then remove drive belt.

8. Remove radiator upper hose from engine side.
9. Remove four nuts of exhaust front pipe.
10. Remove three bolts from generator bracket then
remove the generator with brackets.

11. Disconnect crankshaft angle sensor connector.

14. Remove heater hose from water pipe side.

28. Remove ten bolts and remove cylinder head cover.
29. Remove fixing bolt of timing belt tensioner then
remove timing belt tensioner.

CAUTION:
 Do not bend or twist belt, otherwise its core could
be damaged. The belt should not be bent at a
radius less than 30 mm.
 Timing belt drive gear counterhold with J–42620.
 Do not allow oil or other chemical substances to
come in contact with the belt. They will shorten
the life.
 Do not attempt to pry or stretch the belt with a
screw driver or any other tool during installation.
 Store timing belt in cool and dark place. Never
expose the belt direct sunlight or heat.
31. Remove two idle pulleys, the left side with idle pulley
bracket.
32. Remove two bolts and stud bolt and remove timing
belt rear cover.
33. Remove camshaft angle sensor
34. Disconnect engine oil pressure switch connector.

1996 Chryslser Sebring Convertible leaks on left side from rain


Water goes between the front and rear window and is supposed to go through a trough and drain out of the bottom of the car. often the drains along the bottom (4 very small slits) get clogged and water will back up into the floorboards. just drive a flat head screwdriver in these slits and it will let the water out! (watch out about 2 gallons came out of mine!)
