The sending unit is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly in the vans WITHOUT stow and go seats. The assembly is located in the fuel tank. Vans with the stow and go seats will have the sending unit in the tank also. But it will not be an integral part of the fuel pump.

Fuel gauge malfunction fixes on a 2003 ford explorer?

The fuel level sending unit is integrated in the fuel pump, which is located in the tank. The age of your vehicle warrants replacement of the fuel pump as a unit. Never try to repair a sending unit Just make sure the float for the sending unit is free to swing when installing the fuel pump into the tank. Also empty water out of fuel pump well of the fuel tank

Where is the fuel sending unit on 1994 chevy astro van

the sending unit is located inside the fuel tank beside the fuel pump. it operates like a rheostat, the float rises and the resistance in it increases and the float lowers and the resistance lowers as the fuel level changes.

Where is the fuel filter on a 1999 ford taurs

The fuel filter is located in the sending unit. This contains three primary components - the fuel pump, the fuel filter, and the fuel level sensor. The sending unit is located inside the fuel tank. This is done because the fuel around it helps cool the fuel pump, therefore extending its life. To remove the unit(You might need a lift), you need to:
1) Drain the fuel tank
2) Detach the fuel tank from the vehicle
3) Lower the tank
4) 'Unlock' the sending unit (it sort of locks in there, but there's no key or anything)
5) Remove the whole unit and replace the problem part.
6) Put the sending unit back.
7) Re-attach the tank.
8) Fill the tank.

I have a 1977 chevy blazer & the fuel gage is always showing full even if the tank is empty & if the ignition is on or off how can I fix this

Hi, the problem is in the sending unit located at your gas tank. I believe it is on the top of your tank, and you will need to remove either the rear seat to get to it, or what ever is directly over the tank. It may have a bad wire connection at the float assembly and sending unit that tells your gauge the amount of fuel is in the tank. If you are not sure, pick up a manual at any auto parts store, Chiltons, Haynes which will guide you through it.Your gauge is OK, it will be the sending unit that tells the gauge. I wish you the best on this,

I have a 1976 chevy chyenne super , and my problem is that my gas gage always jumps to over full every time I start my truck and I don't know where to start testing or how to start testing possible ways...

If you understand resistance in ohms, and you have an ohm meter you can test out the fuel gauge system. The gas gauge is essentially an ohm meter, and the fuel level sending unit is a variable resistor. as the tank becomes lower and lower on fuel, a float in the tank attached to a variable resistor sends a signal to the gas gauge, and that is how the gauge keeps track of the fuel level. Normally if the gauge pegs out when you start the engine, the sending unit in the fuel tank is bad, or the wire going to the tank has a bad connection. If you remove the sending unit you can check it with an ohm meter. A good repair manual available at most major auto parts stores will walk you through the procedure.

I have a 1997 Ford Escort. The Fuel Guage is stuck at 1/2 tank. How do I fix this and have guage run properly again?

If the fuel gauge is ok, but the sending unit for level in the tank is stuck, then replace the sending unit by lowering the tank and disassembling the sending unit on the tank which contains the pump and the level sensor.

If you disconnect the sending unit and the meter still says 1/2 tank, the gauge itself may be bad.

Fuel gauge stuck on full

pos lead is used to measure ground...that means that the power goes through the fuel level sending unit and the ground lowers the power out from the unit....I would replace the fuel level sending unit.

Fuel indicator

OK, your fuel indicator is wired to a sending unit that is located inside the fuel tank. this assembly is part of the fuel pump assembly. the fuel indicator sending unit is housed in the same assembly as the fuel pump. The fuel indicator will not function properly if there is a bad ground or, if there is a fault within the sending unit. there is a floater device attached on this assembly and, it raises with the fuel level and lowers when the fuel level is low, sending resistance signals to the indicator gauge on your dash board. these signals can be disrupted if the ground is corroded or, if the sending unit is damaged. In most cases, replacing the sending unit will fix this issue. if the fuel indicator is stuck on the full mark, check the ground. if the fuel gauge is laying on empty all the time, replace the sending unit.
