This is usually cause by the crankshaft position sensor, but it is difficult to say with the info provided. I do not have much to go on.

I have a 1981 Chevrolet S- 10 that won't start. I have a 2 prong plug the Batt.prong with nut a brown wire spliced going nowhere and a red spotted wire coming from the thing on the firewall

Didn't see s10 for your model year, did see a blazer, though.
Is your vehicle computer controlled or not? You need fuel--spark--air and timing.
If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, check fuel pressure. Check cylinder compression.

If the starter motor won't even crank have to check starter wiring circuits. Make sure battery has a full charge.
How long have you had this vehicle? I can't see much from here.

Car won't start 2003 Dodge Stratus sxt coupe cranks but won't start what could b the problem? I tried spraying starting fluid in the air system but it still won't start!

i would check and see if spark pluges are firing. you can take one out and plug into spark plug wire then let the bottom of the plug sit on engine and get someone to try to start while you look at the plug to see if there is any fire. if you have no fire or fuel it would be the crankshaft sencer. it could be the timing belt but the motor would sound different turning over then it used to.

Motor cranks but won't start.

better check that distributor cap for damage on the inside. It's simple. Just need a flat tip screwdriver. If thats fine. I'd check voltage to coil and if it was 12 or more I'd through a coil at it. It's an easy repair.
