Question about 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

2 Answers

Hello - 2006 Jetta TDI - 4 door. -After hitting a large rock (undercarriage) the emergency brake light came on and won't turn off even though the e-brake is not on. -The door ajar alarm comes on over 10 km/h and goes off after about 4 minutes of continuous driving, however when the car starts from stopped it comes on again. The air bag light has also come on. The daytime running lights do not come on, the drivers door lock sticks when opened with the key fob, and the door will not catch when closing unless the vehicle is started. Took it to VW - they suggested changing the wiring harness in drivers door. This was done. This reset the airbag light, however this is the only thing that has changed. VW mechanic advised to check the battery voltage. This was done and the battery is in great shape. no problems. Unknown where to go with this next?!

If you have full coverage insurance take the car in to a body shop for an estimate

It maybe more than you can repair yourself

Accidents such as this one are hair pullers to figure out on your own and expensive
paying the deductable may be well worth it

EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT WON'T GO OFF

Not sure what model vehicle you have. Look at the emergency brake pedal, and see if it is supposed to hit a switch when the pedal is released - it may be the switch it out of adjustment and needs adjusted.

Have someone watch the light while you run your finger along the entire length of the pedal to see if the light goes out when you hit the switch. This assumes the issue is mechanical.

2012 VW Jetta TDI battery won't hold charge and car only clicks and won't start

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.

You have a door switch bad or loose in my opinion. Check all doors.

Volkswagen Jetta won't go into gear from park what

There's a relay on the brake pedal arm that actuates when you press the brake pedal. This releases the lock on the shifter, so you can shift out of Park. VW's are notorious for having issues with this relay. Stick your head down by the brake pedal and you'll see where the pedal arm hits the relay. It's more than likely stuck, and may not need to be replaced. I'm guess you probably have no brake lights either...

Brake light stays on

The emergency brake cable could have stuck on enough to make the light stay on. Sometimes a little lubricant on the cables might help. Try setting and releasing the emergency brake a couple of times. I have even had to get under the car and tap the brake cable to release it fully.

This is driving me crazy

you may have made your constant power hooked into the same wire they are on so you may need to run straight to the battery for constant power. if you've already done this then id make sure you didn't unplug anything.

2006 vw jetta tdi service engine light reset

With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument pane(if pressing doesnt work try turning the knob clockwise until service light has gone off and skip the pressing)l. Release both buttons at the same time.
