Probably water in the relay box or multiple sensors, you can displace the water with electrical contact cleaner. You will need the chiltons book for the vehicle or have it to be safe, unplug your negative battery cable before doing anything. Remove the top of relay box and inspect for water damage, you can then go sensor to sensor, unplug and blast both sides, shake out excess let dry for a few minutes and replug.

This may or may not help you, it is what i would do first.

Only 3rd forward gear after going thru large puddle

If everything was fine before you went through the puddle ..
Get underneath the car and check all the electrical connections you can see on your transmission.

Depending on the depth of the water and speed you were doing, the surge of water may have affected a connection. Remove what wires you can see and clean them. Do the same with any electrical connections you can see around the brake areas.

My 2003 kia rio won't start I have new spark plug n wires I went through high puddle of water n it turned off won't start no more

Deep water and engines do not mix very well and if water was drawn into the air intake the engine could be a write-off. This is unlikely with just a deep puddle but it does illustrate the degree of care needed where water is concerned.

Some years ago we had to recover a car from a ford through a small river. The owner didn't realise quite how deep the water had become after a winter storm. The car dried out quite well after a couple of weeks under the workshop heater with all the doors and windows open but still would not start. The various black boxes were removed from the vehicle and the cases removed and a further week of drying out returned the car to full working order.

New plugs and wires will be no help if there is no spark. There is no point in having a spark if there is no fuel injection...

Some luck guessing what is wrong might happen but mostly guesswork is doomed to spending time and money without results and what is needed is a systematic approach to discovering what is wrong. These days that approach needs a good deal of experience, equipment and model information.

pop off the distributer cap and dry it out well. Put it back on and it should work. This happened to my 97 jetta too...also if I go through large puddles at a quick speed this may happen too. There isn't good electrical contact with the moisture.

I have a 2000 chevy s10, about two weeks ago I drove through a large puddle of water with no problem while off roading, about a week ago almost every other time I go to start the truck I turn the key to...

There are severat things that might cause this problem. First thing I would check is if maybe that you knocked the starter solenoid wire loose. This would be the smaller of the two wires going to the starter. The second thisn that I would check is the starter it's self. If you have gotten water in the starter you could have coroded the brushes that are in the starter motor, or coroded the contacts in the starter motor solenoid. The third and least likely possiabality is that the starter is loose and the electricity can't complete its path because of corosion and bad connection to ground.
