Question about 1999 Audi A6

1 Answer

I have a 99 a6 quattro and the hood won't open. I believe the problem is from the main release disconnecting from the latch under the hood. there is no tension on the lever and I already tried to disconnect the wire from the in-cabon release and pull on it with pliers but had no luck. and suggestions?

This is a tough one, you will need to try and get a hold of a part of the cable going to latch and pull the complete cable with the housing and try to get hood open, another way is to locate the latch from under the car, you may need a skinny screwdriver that very long and try to push the latches release arm. this is going to be hard to do but is the only way i ever get hoods open with broken cables, hope this helps.

2005 quattro , battery is dead and hood wont release. Is it an elecrtonic release?

Heidi, No electric release. The latch is probably stuck. While you pull the interior hood release have an assistant push down and pull up repeatably/vigorously until hood releases from stuck position. Lube latch and cable before closing hood. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

The hood on my 99 sunfire is closed shut and won't

The cable is probably broken and not connected to the latch. There are two latches, a primary which the cable is connected, and the secondary or safety.
You'll have to try to access the latch from under the car going up between the bumper and the radiator. You may need a body shop to do it.

How do open the hood when the cable has broken on my 1999 audi a6 quattro?

Under the car:
You will be able to open the hood if you pull off your splash guard and use a long long flat head screwdriver or something like that. You'll see the hood latch in front of the radiator with the cable attached to it at the top near the hood, put it on the drivers side edge of the bottom of the latch and pry to the passenger side, the lever moves from the drivers side to the passengers side, the cable basically pulls the top of it to achieve this. so your doing the same thing on the bottom with the screwdriver.

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and replace the safety release mechanism broken cable.

'99 Honda civic LX. The hood latch requires a lot of force to ope

What you should do is spray the latch with pb blaster,556,or wd40.Shut the hood and after a couple of times it should work better also do a visual inspection of the latch and make sure nothing is bent.

Hood latch

There is no other way to release the hood other than either trying to reach the latch release from under the car or removing the grille.
