Where is the EGR located

To find the EGR valve: locate your exhaust manifold (the first part on the front of the engine). There is a metal tube coming out of the driver's side and goes to the rear of the engine. This metal tube feeds exhaust gases to the EGR valve

Code P0401 for Toyota Tercel 1996

It means that the EGR flow is insufficient. This can be caused by several things, a couple of them are- a bad EGR valve, you can test it with a vacuum pump. It can also be caused by the EGR plumbing being clogged up. The engine will run fine with that code, it only effects you exhaust emissions at cruising speed, that is the only time the valve opens, to recirculate exhaust gas which reduces combustion chamber temperatures and thus reduces emissions.

Replacing EGR valve with gasket plus temperature sensor EGR. Cost at Matt's Caddy Shack via dealer was $239.65 for valve and $7.25 while temp sensor EGR was $221.36. Matt said he could not find parts...

I found the egr valve at autozone for about $161.99 with a 2 year warranty online.

Prices will vary depending on where you get the valve.

Good luck on this repair.

I cant locate the egr valve on a 1998 Dodge ram 1500 5.2 L

An EGR valve assembly located at the front of the intake manifold. The EGR valve is a poppet style valve (on/off only) and is controlled by an internal diaphragm.

1998 Dodge Neon, has code: PO403, EGR circuit malfunction, where should I be looking? Thanks.

egr valve is located near exhaust manifold...exhaust gas recirculation or egr valve ports some exhaust fumes back to the inlet manifold in order to meet emmissions look in this area

1997 Toyota Tercel (Manual)

Fuel regulator, EGR vavle and EGR valve sensor. But this really sounds like a fuel issue. You can also check your fuel pump, and of course check your air filter and your spark plugs.
