Question about 2001 Dodge Intrepid
It's possible that you have a fuel line or injector leaking on the engine. With the engine OFF take a look near the front center of the top of the engine by the fuel lines and injectors for any dampness or strong odors. I have seen a few leaks in this area and usually you'll catch a whiff of raw gas inside the vehicle as you sit in traffic or when you walk by the vehicle after shutting it off. Because of the risk of fire you should have this smell checked out as soon as possible.Good luck, hope this helps!
