The check engine light is on my 1995 Saab 900s. I can not find a techician with the correct scanner. How can I turn off the light?

There are three ways to reset a check engine light.

1. Disconnect the battery, wait approximately 30 minutes, reconnect the battery. This resets the cars computer which also reset the check engine light. On newer OBD (on-board diagnostic) compliant vehicles this usually does not work. See step 2.

2. Reset using an OBD II reader. When you hook an OBD II code reader up to your vehicle, you can reset the computer using the code reader.

3. Fixing the problem. Generally the check engine light comes on for a reason. Usually it is emission related (sensors, gas cap) or electrical (faulty wiring). In this case the way to reset the check engine light is to fix the problem

What does it mean when my 2003 honda pilots check engine light comes on?

Hi, the check engine light will require you to have the engine CPU scanned for trouble code's. This can only be administered with the assistance of a diagnostic computer scan tool OBD II. You can purchase this tool, at your local auto parts store, or you can just have the scan ran at your local auto zone parts store, free of charge. Once the diagnostic scan is administered, you will be able to isolate the issues that have caused the check engine light.
This scan tool will display a print out code and the location of the issue, on the engine, as well. There are Many issues that will cause the engine light to illuminate, but the most common cause will be a failed monitoring sensor, or sensor harness failure(separated power wire, or ground).
After retrieving the code, it will be interpreted to know what caused the lights to come up and that will be used to fix the problem.

How do i rest the check engine light on a 1997 jeep cheorkee

Ok, to reset your error code / light on dashboard, go to Advanced Automotive (used to be called Western Auto) or go to Auto Zone. tell them you need them to hook up an OBD II code reader and to please clear the codes for you. It's completely free to have them attach and use the OBD II reader so don't worry about being charged for the service. Once they clear your codes you will be fine. If the engine light comes back on after they cleared it, then there is something else wrong that's causing the light to come on. If this happens go back to them and ask them to use the OBD II on it again and this time have them gather the actual code it's sending to cause the light to come on and that will help them tell you what IS wrong and then what's needed to fix it. I own the exact same Jeep you do and use Advanced Auto's OBD II readers all the time when I have any errors or lights come on. Oh and these Jeeps are known for their O2 sensor going bad, that sensor is located on the exhaust pipe between the catylitic converter and the muffler...it looks like an electrical sparkplug poking out (best description of the O2 sensor I can think of at the moment lol). I may be a female but if you have any questions with your Jeep, feel free to contact me ladyserenity75@gmail.com

Make sure you installed the correct TP sensor. If so you may have a bad one. I have gotten bad "new" parts before. If all your problems started with the installed part start there.
