If vehicle has been standing for a long while it could be the fuel has gone stale but i wouldnt like to say as it could be a multitude of reasons ranging from stale fuel to a mass air flow sensor ,so i would advise that ask a local mechanic to have a look for you

cannot always come up with answers in cases like this sorry but it really needs a local man to have a look ,i can come up with a answer like a valve seat or a HT lead has an internal break ,or the gangly googy flip has a hole in it ,No ask a local mechanic whos recomended by a neighbour or a friend to give this vehicle a rule of teh thumb and if need be then reply and i can say yes this is a plausable item or not .

1988 forn crown vic misfire?

If the cap rotor and plug wires are original, I would look at them first.
Also check the condition of the plugs.

Hi. I have a 99 camaro 3.8l and I'm having some

Sounds like a fuel problem,You did the coils, plug wires and sparkplugs, that should of taken care of the misfire,You may have a EGR that stay open and doesnt close properly and it doesnt set a code why the ECM compensate for the false air.Now this causes rough idle, and smooth cruise with no misfire until you get to stop or idle speed. The map sensor this can also fail when warm especially if the vacuum it is suppose to get is not met. And a failing MAP causes a lack of power. A TPS failing causes a stumble and lack of power but no misfire.cansmo_184.gif

Misses when I accelerate , idles just fine

apply brake and accelerate engine while vehicle is standing still, you need to apply brake hard, DO NOT do this for a period of more than 1 minute or you will be putting alot of stress on your transmission. you will be trying to set off the "check engine" warning lamp or the "service engine soon" warning lamp, and get a misfire failure code, after code sets on your vehicle computer, get it scanned it will tell you which engine cylinder is misfiring ie "P0301= cylinder #1 misfire" then check out spark plug, spark plug wire and ignition coil. one of them is probably causing this.

I have a 1997 mercedes benz c280, issue I am having is, it idles good, when it idles, but try to step on the gas and it misfires, I have misfires on cyl 2,3,4,5. I swapped the coil from 1&6 with...

I'll keep this very short. Replace your Mass Air Flow sensor(MAF). You can get a used one usually and be just fine. Check out silverstar auto recycling in Fresno, CA.. Great service. I've done a lot of business with them.
