Sounds like you may have a wiring problem at the back of the truck right side underneath behind the bumper were the wires travel from the front to the rear of the truck, if you check the wires for damage, broken, green corrosion or rubbed through this is common for these trucks, check all the wiring at the back in these areas.

check the circuit board. This is the strip that holds your light bulbs and has two screws holding it to the tail light lens. they do go out i just replaced both of mine.

I have 99 chevy suburban my brake lights dont work i changed the switch, checked the fuse its good cleaned the connections and checked the bulbs they still dont work

See if there is a relay for the tail lights/brake lights. I would go ahead and install new bulbs. Make sure that you get the correct bulbs. Not many vehicles still use the old 1157's.

Bad tail lights on 89 chevy 1500

you should be able to just unscrew two screws that holds the tail light to the truck, then just twist and pull to remove the bulbs then replace with a new bulb, this should fix it. otherwise its a wiring issue

Could you take out a bulb and with a testlight/probe check that you do in fact have power to that circuit .Also check that they are the correct bulb for that application I have seen people put indicator bulbs in where therse supposed to be a double filament bulb.Does the base of the bulbs lead contacts line up with the two steel terminals inside the plug?
