Question about Cadillac Eldorado

1 Answer

1989 Cadillac El Dorado... Trouble code E30... I have installed a new ISC motor and connector. Used the old screw because the new one differed from the old. My trouble is that I don't know the specs as far as how far to screw in the screw. The car continues to stall while in park and trying to put in gear. I have installed new Temp. Sensor w/ pigtail...new battery...altenator has passed the test... No vacuum leaks detected. The only thing that I can think of is that the timing may be slightly off, but isn't the distributor supposed to try and automatically adjust that? Can someone please help me? Anyone know the specs regarding that actuator screw?

Trying to de-cypher the language here now if i have read it correct then you are refering to the stepper motor as its obvious a injection vehicle which didnt appear in europe till 92 when cats were brought in ,anyway the motor is controlled by the computer which adjusts the power to the stepper motor to increase or decrease the amount the plunger (screw) opens to allow more air to increase idle ,their are four wires on the motor of which their are 2 returns and 2 feeds which screw the plunger in or out ,So use a automotive meter to measure the power when its applied to the motor or two little lights one on each feed ,Now the fault often happens where the ECU doesnt compute the idle so no voltage indicates a ECU fault ,now if you do get power and its not adjusting right then it could be a fault with the RPM gauge where the ECU picks up the information so what i do in this case is with a warm engine i set the motor to the optimum position with the plug disconnected for a idle of around 850RPM in drive with handbrake on of course and leave the plug off .OK its a bit slow when cold as the auto choke cannot increase idle but at least it works ,also check the engine breather system as a perished pipe on the breather will cause the idle to be out but if this is the case then it races but not in all cases depending on make of vehicle ,The plunger should be self adjusting by the way as its adjusted by the computer so it doesnt need pre setting

Have 1992 El Dorado, a/c or heater motor will not run, dash display shows working, replaced resistor, still does not work.Any suggestions?

had same thing happen on my 92 el dorado. problem is at the blower control power relay the 2 plug connectors or the connector for the blower fan. theree is a flow chart to test the voltages going to these connector in the factory shop manual, for a 92 el dorado on page 1C-17 if I remember correctly. if voltages check ok then make sure plugs are securely plugged in. if still does not work, then it's the blower control power relay. good luck!

How difficult is it to replace a heater-A/C fan

Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Remove the the strut tower brace. Disconnect and position the ignition control module assembly out of the way. Remove the solenoid purge valve. Remove the inertial plate screws from the blower motor. Remove the inertial plate from the blower motor. Disconnect the connector from the blower motor. Remove the blower motor screws and remove the blower motor. The brake rotors should clean up on their own after using the brakes a few times.
