Hi everyone, I have this vectra c 2003 and the audio controls on the steering wheel (left side) its not working. Anyone any sugestion? thanks.

Clocks spring needs replaced95%of the time. The clock spring right below steering wheel allows wires to withstand twisting when turning steering wheel. They are notorious for the wire breaking and not making connection. Clock spring also has air bag wires which could be the next wires to break causing airbag not to deploy when its needed.

95 impreza clock spring

The clock spring is not part of the airbag, it is under the steering wheel and provids a moving solid contact to the airbag on the steering wheel. Do not attempt any repairs to the system until you have read the factory warning about the disarming of the airbag system prior to starting any work to remove he steering wheel to get to the clock spring. Follow the installation instruction that comes with the new part exactly or the new clock spring will be ruined in short order.

Just because the cruise and the horn are operative does not mean the clock spring is good check the clock spring there is most likly an open in the clock spring.

Before I even got done reading your post I was thinking clock spring. They aren't the easiest things to change but are definitely changeable. You will, however, need a steering wheel puller, more than likely. Most clock springs aren't cheap either.

Hope this helps out,

1998 Grand Voyager horn not working, check fuse ok, relay never check.

You can check the clock spring. Remove the cover over the stealing wheel where the emergency flasher is. At the bottom there are two connector side by side. the small one on the left is for the Air Bag, the one on the right (6-7 pin connector) is for the horn and cruise control if you have one. Disconnect the right connector. Us a wire to gound out the pin in the lelft side of the 6-7 pin connector. If the horn sounds, then it is either the clock spring or the air bad itself that needs to be replaced. I would bet it is the clock spring.

Clock spring mech is prob bad, first easy check is remove airbag 2 8mm bolt from back side of wheel make sure wires are still connected if they are good the clock spring mech is bad you can use a steering wheel puller to remove wheel and clock spring mech just snaps out and has 2 plugs on it, I have 2 if you need one.
