Left blinker works, but left daytime running light does not.

  • badair771 Aug 03, 2008

the drl is also the blinker...not the high beam

  • badair771 Aug 04, 2008

Light bulb is good.. both filaments are working. One strange thing..Sometimes the turn signal arrows on the dash illuminate when I release the parking brake. They stay on all the time and the drl works. The park lights in the rear are also on all the time. When this happens, the blinkers work fine. Sometimes when this is not happening, I lose the left drl, but blinker works. Rear park lights go off. What a mess.

The DRL is usually a high beam run at about 80%. Do both high beam bulbs work? If not, replace the bad one. If they do work as high beams but not as DRLs, replace the DRL relay.

OK, did not realize your car used the marker lights as DRLs. Did you verify the bulb is OK? There should be two filaments inside - one for turn signal, one for DRL/marker light. It could be that you lost the DRL filament but not the turn signal filament.

I have no brake lights, the blinkers run really fast and if the headlights are on the blinkers will not run at all while braking. Any ideas?

Have the multi-function switch and its circuits tested. The multi function switch is the blinker arm and the components its attached to in the steering wheel column. The multifunction switch has to do with blinkers, cruise control, wipers, wiper spray, high beams and also tied in with headlight dimmers/daytime running lights(if applicable) and hazards usually.

A good place to start.

Sounds like you need a bulb, the daytime running lights send power to the high beam wire so they look like low beam lights are on but really they are high beam lights running on low voltage.

Daytime running lights and blinkers do not work

the lights are controlled by a module, it is the DRL module, replace it. also try this
On the inside of the car next to the light switch there is your dome light button. GM made it to where you could turn off the daytime running lights by pushing it three times in and out. Turn the vehicle on then do this. Your daytime running lights should work after this.

Daytime running lights don't come on 96 chevy 1500 not switch at parking brake or fuse

I had this issue with my 1999 C1500.  I had to jump my truck a couple of times, because I left the inside light on and I found when I did this my daytime running lights worked briefly.  I wondered why, but didn't give it much thought.  I had to replace my battery a couple of months ago and my daytime running lights started working all the time.  Even though my battery would start my vehicle, run the interior components, etc., it didn't have enough voltage for the daytime lights.  Check your battery voltage under a load, see if it helps.
