They had problems with the instament displays on these years. Check with your GM. dealer's service Dept. to see if there's a repair campaine to replace it.

Oil pump 2004 chevrolet avalanche

Can only help by putting in a new oil pump as well. I would say remove the heads and check where the coolant is coming from. Bad head or crack in a cylinder wall.

Oil Pressure gauge stuck at maximum, coolant gauge stuck at maximum, speedometer erratic (either not working or working after startup)

The oil pressure gauge on my 2003 Avalanche reads "0" and activates low oil pressure warning. Oil level is OK and engine does not sound like one with with no oil pressure; AKA no knocks or ticking. The mileage is 50,000 on this vehicle any ideas as I with no gauge I am leary of driving it? Please advise!

The Oil Gauge of my 2004 Avalanche drops to cero while driving, it doesn't stop the engine or any other system, no noise, no nothing, it just (the messurement) goes crazy until droping to cero. When I stop...

If the tech used a oil pressure gauge on your engine to see if the pressure was good he should of checked the oil pressure switch next. If that proved to be good the gage in the dash is bad. How hard is that to do at any dealership that sells these vehicles. They are require to have all the equipment to service these vehicles to stay in business coordinated by the francised rules. Call the corporate office and file a complaint towards that dealer and demand a refund

My oil gauge drops to zero, but everyhting appears to be working. could the oil pump be out? How can I tell?

you would need to remove the oil pressure sending unit beside the oil filter and hook up a gauge to verify it.
but if you had "0" it would be knocking really bad,so I think I would try replacing the oil sending unit, thats what tells the gauge on the dash to register.they are about $15.00 at Autozone

You Know That That's Just HopeFully A FAULTY Dummy Gauge As They Refferred To Them In The Ole Day... But If You Reg Change Your Oli @ Every 3000-5000 Miles As Suggested, You Know Exactl;y Where Your Truck Is, I WAs Recommended The Same Thing, But My Fix Was To Just Install A Aftermarket Oil Pressure Gauge, Which they Are More In -expensive Then This New Gauge For You Dashboard Oil Light....
