Oil dip stick tube on a 1990 f 250 ford truck came came out,put it back in,but now oil leaks out where dip stick tube goes into oil pan. Is there a way to fix it?

wow really it needs to be fixed not this bull , it is either the gasket leaking , ck to see if it is wet with fluid around the pan sometimes you can tighten the bolts , but just snug do not overtighten and break them or change the gasket , chevys are known for the little seal ring around the dip stick tube drying out and leaking , see if it is wet with fluid at the base of the dip stick tube where it goes into the trans , if so take the one bolt that holds it in out and just pull out the tube be carful just rock it back and forth a little bit and pull like hell it will come out put some grease on the new o ring and push it back in , good luck ,

So you know, I am not insulting you. I don't know what you know or what you don't know. From your symptoms, I'm confused. If you pulled the trani pan down and the trani dip-stick still read "Full", you pulled the wrong dip-stick. Your transmission takes Mercon and you will need a narrow funnel that will fit inside the trani dip-stick tube. Follow the dip-stick tube all the way to the bottom and verify that it goes to the transmission. When you pulled the trani pan down you should have four or more quarts empty into your drain-pan. Until you can confirm that the the trani is properly filled, don't continue to use the car. Running the engine while the trani is empty can damage internal componants. ITS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BEHIND THE A/C COMPESSOR AND BELOW THE VALVE COVER.. LOOKING AT THE MOTOR WITH HOOD UP IT WILL BE ON THE LEFT SIDE IT SHOULD STAND UP PRETTY TALL. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO REMOVE THE WHOLE DIP STICK TUBE. ITS ATTACHED TO THE VALVE COVER BY 1 BOLT.. TO REMOVE ENTIRE DIP STICK TUBE WHICH GOES DOWN INTO THE OIL PAN.. IT SHOULD HAVE A YELLOW RING FOR DIPSTICK.

The dip stick tube is pressed into the engine block. Put a bolt into the top of the tube so that the body of the bolt goes into the tube and the bolt head rests on the tube (so it does not fall down the tube). Use a wrench (such as a Vise grip) to hold onto the tube at the bolt and gently work it back and forth, being sure not to deform the tube. Remove the tube and old dip stick. Replace the tube by forcing it back into the eng. block. Replace the dip stick - done :)! Some dip stick tubes have a gasket at the engine - others just **** up to a shoulder that is built into the tube. Let me know if this works. Thanks.

If it's a stander transmission you add under your truck on the side of the transmission where it reads fill, if it's automatic it's has to have and dip stick for that year truck.could be missing check the side of transmission above transmission pan toward the front for a hole where the tube goes in, it would also be leaking if gone.

Drill small hole in what's left inside the tube - insert bolt extractor - pull out dip stick. Material is relatively soft so drilling is easy. Buy new dip stick.

SOMETIMES A SMALL POWERFUL MAGNET CAN BE USED TO EXTRACT THE STICK BUT REMOVAL OF THE OIL PAN IS ONE METHOD THAT ASSURES ALL REMNANTS OF THE DIPSTICK ARE REMOVED FROM THE OIL PAN. It could be leaking from the pan, the dipstick where it goes into the transmission, or the front or rear seals on the transmission.

will be on driver side rear location you will need to get under car and feel around you will find the hole in that area then you can replace the dipstick housing

You Can loose Oil out your tailpipe of your exhaust.
