Are you sure it's leaking from the oil pan? That is a lot of oil to lose in a short time. I would check that the oil filter is tight and sealed rather than the pan gasket.

Is replacing an oil pan in a 2004 toyota camry an easy fix ?

It isn't too hard. You need to drain the oil first ( make sure to change the gasket around the plug every time you remove and replace the plug or it will leak), then drop the oil pan... put down lots of absorber pads as there will be droppings. Have a rag on hand for your hands. Scrape and clean the old seal where the oil pan meets the engine then put on a new one once it is thoroughly cleaned. Put on new pan, or repair old one.... again make sure to replace oil pan gasket and new oil drain gasket ( around plug..) since your going that far get a new oil filter also.... fill the new filter with oil before installing, fill up the engine with new oil..ps. It takes a few minutes to run down so wait between oil bottles and check the level ( don't run the car) fill the oil until the dip stick reads full ( remember wait a few minutes between each liter of oil to give it a chance to leak into the bottom of the engine). I believe it is around 4.5 quarts including the amount needed to fill the filter.

Undhow many litres of oil nissan patrol 3.0d need for oil Change

Try 4 quarts and start the engine to fill the filter. Shut engine off, wait 15 minutes for the oil to go back to the pan, then check the oil dipstick. If it's low, put in another quart.

Oil change

jack up your car, and always put jack stands or at least some concrete blocks under the frame of the car, for safety. then locate the bottom of the oil pan, and there will be a bolt head that is in the bottom area of the pan somewhere. that is the bolt that you remove to drain the oil from the engine. use a pan of some sort to catch the oil, and be sure that the engine is cool when you do this, because the oil will burn you if it is hot. then locate the oil filter on the engine, and use a oil filter wrench which fits your oil filter to unscrew the filter, and again place the pan under that area to catch the oil. once you have it off, just sit it in the pan with the old oil for now, then take a clean rag and wipe off the surface where the rubber gasket of the filter seats against the engine. then take the new filter and place a small amount of oil and rub it on the new gasket with your finger. now screw the new filter on as tight as you can by hand, then use the wrench and turn in until it is tight, just don't over tighten it, as you can cause damage to the gasket and the threads. just really snug and firm is good enough. Be sure to wipe the pan drain bolt clean too before you replace it, and again, wipe the surface clean where the head seats to the pan. torque it down good and tight, and then you can let the car back down off the jack. be sure the car is sitting on level ground, then locate the oil fill cap on the engine, and take it off, then use a funnel and pour in the new oil. Be sure to check with your owners manual to see how much oil it takes, and also what type. Type is usually printed on the oil fill cap. Pour a quart at a time until you have gotten within a quart of the amount recommended in the manual. let it set for about 10 minutes to give the oil time to drain down into the pan, then check the oil level on the dipstick and add small amounts at a time until you reach the full mark. Start the car and let it run for just a couple minutes, then shut it off and wait again for about 10 minutes and check the dipstick again. make sure you don't over fill it!!!!!! that is a big no no, and will damage your engine if you run it with too much oil in it.

How do you change transmission fluid on a 2007 explorer with no dipstick

WRONG! At least CHANGE the FLTER and 6.75 quarts of MERCON V transmission fluid, not anything less!! $ 5.50/quart at Advance Auto. Get a Haynes manual or similar - it's NOT clear, what to do either! AT LEAST do what's being described for this "life-time sealed A05 Automatic transmission! Now if you have the BMW car A06 speed (so-called) transmission - YOU"VE got a REAL PROBLEM + use MERCON SP fluid ($ 10 per quart).

NOTE car MUST be SAFELY, up at least 18" from the ground and LEVEL. Parking Brake ON and BLOCK front and rear of ALL tires! To CHECK fluid level Trans must be at least 80 degrees F and ENGINE RUNNING = DANGEROUS !

The problem is you need a screw in fitting to properly fill and check the A05 speed Automatic transmission ADAPTER (up to 100 dealer) 9 at Amazon worked for me. A small pump with hose (similar, but larger than what hand soap uses) (from $ 6 Amazon to $ 32 - $ +9 at the car stores). A new filter ($ 18 to $ 100). WARNING some filters say they come with a Gasket, the don't! The gasket is special metal and silicone should be reusable IF you don't tear or over torque (tighten). REMOVE Drain plug, the trans pan 15 small bolts, take off pan CLEAN WELL, remove magnet CLEAN, remove two small bolts on filter, LET DRAIN 20 plus minutes. Wipe with clean, lint free cloth ALL of the bottom of trans - then LIGHTLY clean the gasket surface. bolt up the new filter. Lightly install all bolts. Then LIGHTLY with a short 1/4" ratchet tighten all of them.- NOT TOO TIGHT!

Remove the Torx screw/plug from the middle of the Drain Plug - screw in the Adapter, put pump hose onto it - pump 5 quarts into pan. Start engine, pump the next 1.75 quarts into transmission. Using another CLEAN transmission bottle, remove the hose AT the top of the pump - put into the bottle, when about a 1/4 th of a quart drain out on its own - remove the Fill adapter - reinstall the Torx Plug. WIPE all off evidence of oil - drive! Check for leaks the next day!

While doing this, why not protect your investment AND SAVE MONEY? Change the Oil, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter? Use Purolator or Ford Brand Filters ONLY! Use 15-40 Chevron Delo Diesel Grade Oil or Shell Rotundunda . In 500 miles or less I would suggest replacing oil and filter - NEVER MIX OILS. (or use WD40 (designed for arthritis - it's fish oil with water IN it! Destroys engines! Factual Opinions' count, feelings base on LIES, don't!

Loss of Power / Over Heating

eeek, sounds like a possible head gasket failure. Check your coolant and oil. If the coolant is low top it off, and if the oil is milky, you are getting coolant in your oil which is usually a bad head gasket.

Very easy, dirty, messy, job. Grab few item from auto zone. Such as rtv sealant gasket itself, a blade or something to remove the old gasket. 4-8 quarts of oil 10w40 synthetic. Oil filter oil filter remover socket set. Run car for 5 minutes. Drain oils. Recycle it... Dart removing the screws around the oil pan. Once remove clean the surface remove the old gasket with shart razor blade make sure do not damage the surface where the gasket go. The gasket go between the oil pan and the engine mating surface . Clean the pan and clear as much gunk you can out the pump opening or tube. put rtv sealant ( some don't need the gasket because they r the gasket.) place gasket putt screw back it. Change filter refill the car with oil ( 4-8 depending on engine size) That's it.

Could you please tell me how much oil dose the engine take Cheers Neil 1997 Kia sportage 2lt petrol

If it is a four cylinder it'll take about 4 to 4 1/2 quarts. Best thing to do is get 5 quarts, add three to it (if empty) and let sit for 10-15 minutes to let oil drain into pan. Check level. If it is not full slowly add about 1/4 of a quart or less (if necessary) and reapeat until full.

Or call or visit a local parts dealer and they can look it up on their computer for you and let you know exactly how much.

Hope this is helpful.

Thank you,

I want to add transmission oil to my van but i cannot find transmission nut please help

There is not a nut on the transmission oil pan like what you find on an oil pan. You can either take your Van to a auto service department and get a super transmission flush (about $60-$80) which I do not recommend, as they do not change out the filter or gasket. OR:
Remove the 10-mm bolts on the pan, and change the fluid, filter and gasket yourself. Be careful as that pan is filled with fluid and will drop and splash quickly. I use a large drip pan to catch all the fluid. Add fluid slowly using a funnel, poured into the tube where the dip stick is in. When it is surely on the dip stick, I start the engine and let is circulate a few minutes. Then check the level and add more. When the engine is at normal operating temperature, I aim for near that top notch on the dip stick. Do NOT Overfill!
41TE (4-speed) has 9.1 quarts. 31TH (3-speed) has 8.5 quarts.
HINTS:
Make sure you clean both the pan, and pan-to-gasket area.(I use acetone) as well as the gasket-to-transmission area before installing the new gasket.
Tighten the pan bolts to 15 ft-lbs.
Filter to valve body srews (if equipped) 45 in-lbs.
Good Luck and let me know if this helped!
