Question about 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera

1 Answer

After replacing the battery on my Porsche Carrera 2000, I entered the wrong numbers a couple of times on the radio screen asking me to enter 4 digits and then the screen went on a WAIT signal. Now that I recovered my Porsche card with the right code numbers I can`t enter them because this stupid screen always show a WAIT signal. I tried shutting off the radio and removed the negative battery cable to no avail: when I turn my key on and open the radio it still shows that WAIT signal on the screen. My question is: how do i get rid of this WAIT situation

Yes - there is a solution here.

The problem here is that you must leave continuous power to the radio until the WAIT period is over. Any interruption to the power causes the countdown or wait period to start all over again. The secret is to ensure the key is turned in the ignition to accessories point I or the first point on the ignition that activates power to the radio.

If the key is not turned in the ignition as outlined, the radio will automatically shut off after one hour which is a power saving feature (which is great) but it also has a side effect in this case of shutting off the radio before the time limit has been reached!!

Obviously - as you must leave the key turned in the ignition during the wait period (which may be up to 4 hours) please ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe location and well away from any opportunistic thief.!!

Hope it helps or for anyone reading this in a similar situation - this information applies to many vehicles and radio types as many manufacturers have a similar security feature.

Additionally - for cheap code retrieval for Porsche and many other car radios please see this link.

Thanks for using FixYa.

How to enter radio code 2002 boxster

You will need the code in the Porsche user manual packet. There is a card called the Radio Code Card inside a window on the inside of the cover flap. Using the numbered keys along the bottom of the stereo screen, enter those four digits. If you get it wrong, it prompts you for the code again. If you get it wrong three times, you have to wait an hour before trying again.

If you don't have the code from the manual, I would suggest contacting your nearest dealer about resetting the code.

You can recover the code at the following site without pulling the radio. The site will show you how to get the 8 digit serial number of the radio from the radio and then use that serial number to find your code. Takes about ten minutes. Look at the notes if you have trouble

1999 Porsche Carrera the radio turns on and there is no sound from speakers. What do I do to get the sound to come on.

if the radio powers on make sure it is set to an fm station by pushing the S button. then turn the knob on the left to turn the volume up. if there is still no sound it is most likely a radio gone bad or the amp has gone bad.
