Fiasco is right! I had the same trouble with my old Cavalier and when it left me dead on the road for the last time I drove the ****** thing to a Chevy dealer and bought a Silverado. I wish I could give you better news but it comes down to how much you have to spend to fix it (a lot) or just sending the car to auto heaven. You seem to know a lot about your car so I trust that the head and gasket are in trouble.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder that started overheating after changing sparkplugs

Probably an obvious question, but did you check your antifreeze level? If it's good, change the thermostat. If still having issues, your water pump may need to be replaced or radiator cores plugged

My 1997 subaru impreza squeals badly and then engine smokes

Hi this sounds weird does the smoke come out from the front engine covers? the squealing could be the cambelt trying to turn a semi or completly ceased waterpump which would cause the smoke after a while, also without the waterpump working properly the engine will leak water and anti freeze out the overflow and overheat really quickly

My car keeps over heating and i dont have heat

The first thing is to check the coolant level, make sure engine is cold beefore removing the radiator cap, then start car with cap off and add as much as needed, this problem is not a bad thermostant, a bad thermostant would overhaet but would give heat, even if it was stuck open the heat would take while to get hot but then car wouldnt overheat, this problem one one of these problems, . low coolant or a bad waterpump, i have seen a few like this and the waterpump propeller rots away and coolant cant circulate, the last thought would be a bad head gasket but you would get heat when driving, so if coolant isnt low then waterpump is bad. hope this is helpful.

My freestar temperature gauge keeps reading that it is over heating. It does not smell hot and I do not smell antifreeze. As soon as I come to a stop, even with the engine still running the temperature...

Sounds as if fins are worn on waterpump. A pump doesnt need to leak or you to smell it for it to be bad. My bets waterpump, 24 yrs as a ford senior master behind this thought...
