Drive cycle

If the battery has been disconnected, or the computer has lost its memory, the car has to be driven under various conditions before the emission system can be checked for codes.
The drive cycle is between 50 and 100 miles, both city and highway driving, after the engine has reached normal temp.

Does the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis have an auto shutoff when it gets in an accident, how long does it take for it to reset or how do you reset it?

All cars have an Inertia switch since Electric fuelpumps were added to cars. It is simply a Magneticball that bridges the contacts to connect the power to the fuelpump.

To reset your Inertia switch it should be in the Drivers side of the trunk behind a **** in the carpet on the quarterpanel. There is a button you hold down for 2-3 seconds and then it should work. There may also be a Airride switch close to it, but they are 2 different devices.
