Question about 2004 Hyundai Elantra

1 Answer

2004 Elantra. I have 116,000 miles on it, bought it with 48,000. I've had it almost three years, have driven the poor thing to death. I use cruise control frequently and on long trips. Recently I've had some serious problems with it switching gears. If I start going up even the slightest of hills, the RPMs rev up really high, in the 5000 range, once even going in the red for a second unexpectedly. Doesn't switch gears until I let off the gas, and even then it takes a bit to register and shift. Is this a transmission problem?

Yes it is

All that hard driving didn't help

About $2500 should fix you up, with a rebuild
or reman trans

Never changed the fluid did you?
