  1. If you haven't already, replace your Spark Plug Wires and Spark Plugs (if you have the 4 cylinder), the wires are the most common cause of a misfire.
  2. If this doesn't cure your misfire, you may have a faulty ignition coil if you have the 4 cylinder version of the 2001 Mazda Tribute. If you have the 6 cylinder engine, you have a coil on plug setup. In this case you will need to test each coil on plug to find the faulty one. You will need a coil on plug test light to easily determine the faulty coil on plug.
  3. When a coil on plug is not replaced, or an ignition coil, vehicle could experience any of the following: no/hard start, long crank time, misfire, lack of power, inconsistent transmission shift points, spark plug fouling, catalytic converter failure, poor fuel economy, CEL/MIL illumination.

Check engine light is on and it reads Misfire on #2 cylinder. Also oxygen sensor bank2 sensor 1 and Bank 1 sensor 3 behind the converter. Engine running rough.

the engine miss fire can cause the other codes to set. you need to repair the miss fire and clear all codes after the miss is repaired then see if the 02 sensor codes return. the miss fire is probably a bad spark plug wire a good tune-up should take care of it ........HAVE A GREAT DAY

Engine miss fire

Engine misfires can be caused by a variety of anomalies.

Check the computer with an OBD-II Scanner. I just got one from Walmart for $98 plus tax, and it has English descriptions of codes that it reads.

It will tell you which cylinder(s) are missing and if you have any sensors that have issues or problems.

This is an invaluable tool for fixing engine misfires. Good luck to you.

check or relace your coil pack due to the fact that when a coil pack is going bad it usually looses its umph. when it get hot and that would explain random miss fires
