I had the same problem on my 95. A guy at the service dept at ford told me to spray the door latch with WD 40 as the door switch is there and gets sticky. It worked and the door light has not come on since.. :)

The door ajar light is on and won't go off even though all doors are closed also keeping the interior lights on. Is it the sensor and what can I do to fix it without taking it in?

Hello Jessielucas.

In each door latch (not the handles) there is a switch that activates the lights.
You can try to free the sticking switches by spraying a light oil in through the latch openings.
After spraying open and close the doors to try to loosen the sticking switch.
If it fails to free up you may need to remove the inner door panel to get to the inside of the latches.

Ajar door when all doors are closed. when i driving and come to a complete stop my interior lights come on. It reads as door (s).

There is a contact switch on each door frame near the hinge. When a door is closed this opens the circuit cutting electrical supply from the door ajar warning light and the interior lighting circuit. Check the contact switch for the door that seems to be giving a problem and compare this to the opposite door that is working OK. Once you have an idea as to how the 'good' one is working you should be able to identify the reason for the bad one not working. These switches are positioned to fairly tight tolerances and so a shift in a worn door hinge, especially as the weight of the door is transferred forwards as you come to a stop, might be enough to allow the light to come on. It may be that fitting a spacer, a piece of card, under the switch mountings will be enough to correct for this slight movement.

I keep having my door ajar warning on the drivers door come on which keeps my interior lights on wut do and how do i fix this? and this happens when my doors are all closed and while door locks...

spray your door lock with dw40. sounds like the sensor in your door frame is not making correct contact. look on your door frame. all door frames. and see if you can spot any torn rubber or anything that could cause the sensor to not correctly close

97 lincoln continental says door is ajar.

the door switches are part of the door latch, the easiest way to remedy this is to spray liberal amounts of WD40 into each latch and open and close the each door a few times, this should loosen up the latch and solve your problem.

Hope this helps.

Lincoln continental fuses

I have heard there is a door sensor relay that can cause this problem when it goes bad, however i have not been able to locate this relay.

What i did do to better the situation is pull fuse 31 (15amp) out of the fuse pannel under the driver side dash and this will disable all of the interior lights and nothing else. I know this does not fix anything but at least i dont get dead batterys anymore.

97 Lincoln Contiental drivers door ajar message stays on what can i do? Can I remove the door jam sensors or door ajar warning relay? If I can where exactly are the located

It is a sticky sensor in the door latch mechanism. Spray it w/ WD-40 and follow up with a dose of silicone spray. Open/close doors several times and it should be ok. If you have a problem with 1 door the other 3 are sure to follow---DO THIS TO ALL 4 DOORS!!!!!!!!!
