Question about 2008 Ford F-150

1 Answer

I have a 2007 ford F150 XLT 4X4 flex fuel 5.4L. The truck just developed a vibration once you pass 70km an hour. If you let off the pedal it stops. If the truck is on cruise control its minor until you start to climb any grade then it gets loeader depending on the size of the grade. Today i checked the lugs on the tires they were good. I checked under the truck and looked at the U joints and none were loose. I have put the truck in neutral driving down the highway and it stops vibrating. It only does it when you are pushing the gas, when you let off the gas it stops. Once the truck is over the grade and starts done the other side it stops. I am very puzzled...please hekp

Thats a good one. Going by what you are saying the vehicle has to under a load in order for the vibration to occur. Best guess would be rear end or torque convertor.

Also when you drive off from a stop it shutters a little then its fine. So would you suggest I pull the filler plug and check to see if its low? Torch converter, thats in the transmission? The truck is still under the power train warranty from ford. It only has 78,000 km on it and its 4 years old. If one of these problems are the issue that should be covered i would think

Yeah when you add shuttering from a start that sounds like torque convertor breaking down. If it has a warrenty it should be covered. I would recommend taking it in and having it looked at. Either one of those issues can be cheap to fix at first then become very exspensive repairs.

Fuel engine stops then start up in 1 min

You probably have an electronic ignition system to go with those fuel injectors. It sounds like it runs just long enough to empty the fuel out of the injectors, which means there might be a vacuum problem. I'm a carburetor person myself. Are you sure it sound like it NEEDS gas or could it be flooding?

Drain aux tank, remove/bypass switchover valve and run hose from main tank to line from switch valve forward.

Sounds like the passing gear cable is out of adjustment. Get a shop manual and see what the specs are on how to adjust it properly. It is a pretty simple fix.
