Ignition I had trouble turning the key once the key was inserted into the ignition box. It seemed like it was stuck. Force had to be used to turn the key though the inginition box, so the car would start.

I had a similiar problem. the s 60's have been none to need a new ignition barrel after 5 - 7 years. if it is not the steering lock and continues to happen this may need to be replaced.

The next time that happens wiggle the stering wheel. you might have an ignition lock on the car that locks the key in one spot.

Could be the ignition lock mechanism. That's what I usually noticed with cars with that concern.

Key will not turn in ignition

Probably because your steering lock is activated, if not then you have forced the ignition too much and it needs to be replaced.

Try the following:
Insert Key in ignition
Turn Steering Wheel to left side as much as it can when engine isnt started (apply some force), then try to see if key will turn in ignition.

If it doesn't work: Try same maneuver but turn Steering Wheel to the right instead.

I cant turn the ignition or move the steering wheel on my 2003 nissan altima. When I insert the key I get the usual sound but I cant turn the key at all, and the steering wheel seems like its stuck.

i think there is a ignition problem , might try replacing it , of course you cant turn the steering if the key wont turn , its a theft prevention device.

Programing remote contr ol

IMPORTANT: Before entering programming mode, have in possession all of the remotes you will be using on the vehicle. Once you program the remotes , all previous codes will be erased from the memory. The other remotes will not be functional until you program the remotes again.
1. Close the vehicle doors.
2. Insert key in ignition and turn to ON (As far as you can without cranking engine)
3. Turn ignition OFF and remove the key from the ignition.
4. Press and hold the driver side door lock switch in the UNLOCK position.
5. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and remove the key.
| (Do not turn the ignition key in the lock cylinder.)

6.
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and remove the key.
(Do not turn the ignition key in the lock cylinder.)

7.
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder. (Do not turn the
ignition key in the lock cylinder.) Leave the ignition key in the ignition lock
cylinder.

8. Release the door lock switch. The vehicle will sound three beeps in order to
verify the Program Mode has been activated.

9. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the keyless entry
transmitter and hold until the vehicle beeps twice to verify that the
transmitter has been successfully programmed (this take approximately 15
seconds).

10. Perform the previous step to program up to four transmitters (including your
old ones).

11. Remove the ignition key in order to exit the Program Mode.

Ignition

Occasionally the shift lock cable can stick and cause this problem. Try jiggling the shifter and see if that helps. You may need to replace the cable.

The chip in the key is purely electrical and will not prevent the key from mechanically turning the ignition switch.
