I have the same problem holds water and does not run hot as long as when I stop and shut the car off I have to put water in it again. Is this a freeze plug or do I just have to start changing parts until I get it right? I also need a head gasket. Does anyone know where I could find any of these parts????

similar problem. I'm loosing coolant between the engine and the firewall. I cannot see where it is coming from. It is not a constant leak. It comes in spurts, like a pressure relief valve. I go through about a gallon of coolant for every 20-30 miles. Someone mentioned a steering component that the cooling system runs through, but i don't know what they are talking about.

I am loosing water when poured into radiator right behind the tension pully on my 1994 chevy camaro out of a small hole could this be a freeze plug blown out

Water will pour out from a dislodged frost plug. You most likely have a leak from the water pump or intake manifold gasket. Also, check your heater hoses and water pump by pass hose for leaks.

Coolant is leaking from hose/pipe under coolant reservoir

It sounds like the outlet pipe from rear of water pump, which takes the hose from the rear plastic pipe, which is very common problem in Daewoo Leganza/Nubira/Lanos Australian 2.0/2.2 DOHC engines.Either the hose itself, the plastic pipe, or the alloy outlet for the hose on rear of water pump, which is subject to corrosion. You will have to confirm where leak is from, if it is from hose to rear of water pump, you can try re-clamping hose or replacing hose, if it is corrosion of that outlet, the part is available @$40-60 new, but it is a fairly major job because timing cover timing belt and then water pump must be removed...it is a difficult workspace in front of and behind that engine, the manifold and alternator are both in the way , it may be possible to do it in car but you may even be better off removing engine to work on.Good news is that this is a great opportunity to replace T-belt and water pump and pulleys at the same time..Sorry its not that great a news, its not a very easy DIY job, but it is do-able if you have some experience and tools.

Py 1997 plynouth voyager is leaking antifreeze could it be freeze plugs and where are they

They are called CORE plugs as when they are made they take out all the sand out of the holes and fit in plugs. But if your leaking water out and cannot find it then yes its a core plug... as all summer you use coolant min 20%,Winter coming on 20% Antifreeze. and soon as winter is finished you should flush out the engine and radiator as Antifreeze causes the block to go rusty as its cast iron and the core plugs must be BRASS not steel because antifreeze eats away the plugs
But the plugs are fitted 1Rear of engine behind the flywheel 3 either side of engine block and some times 3 or 4 in the heads under the rocker gear..
Let me know how you get on .. Ron

what this means is that you have a rusted out cylinder block core plug, some people call them freeze plugs (which is not what they are), since if one goes they are all ready to go it is best to replace them all, the problem is that it sounds like the one that went on your truck may be the one behind the trans bell housing, this of course means the trans must come out to replace the rear core plugs

Needs water for cooling oftenly

there are several things to check when your car is overheating, first would be the radiator cap, if it is leaking then you will loose alot of coolant, second would be the hoses to the radiator if they have a hole or are not connected tightly then you could loose water causing an overheat of the car third would be the thermostat and the housing for the thermostat if either are malfunctioning it could lead to loss of water, fouth check the water pump for signs of water leakage, fifth check the radiator if it is leaking your car will overheat, sixth you may need a machanic to check this they are called freeze plugs it is what holds the water in the bottom of the engine. they cost about 1-9 dollars a piece but labor will hurt the pocket book.

Cant find heater core hose

The heater core hoses go into the firewall area on the passenger side of the engine compartment,But I think you should look for the leak by adding water and with the engine running, watch to see if you can locate the leak, the location you are describing sounds more like a freeze plug or even the head gasket,But look and see first.

Water leaking bad from front of motor.

freeze plugs will be located towards bottom of the engine. It could be the water pump, or a bad hose.
