1996 Accord AC overflows

Water is dripping from the passenger footwell when I run the AC.  I was told the overflow hose (I hope that is what it is called) gets clogged and just needs to be cleared.  Can someone help me figure out how to do this?

I have to agree on the possibility of a clogged A/C drain hose (overflow hose).

You would need to visually inspect this hose for any sign of cut, abrasion or kinks since these are the common cause(s) excess water coming out in the passenger foot area. If it is a blockage, the corrective procedure would be to remove the hose's connection to the evaporator casing (under the dash), insert a stiff wire with a dull point to clear out the blockage. Alternately easier (but messy), blow compressed air backwards into the free end of the drain hose. The free end is on the firewall in the engine compartment.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Go under car with a wire and poke upward. Try to pull out as much blockage as possible so it won't happen again. You can make a small bend in wire end to do this. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

My ac is cold, but i have water on the passenger side

Very simple solution. get underneath your vehicle and try to put unsharp object into the A/C drainage holes as they are blocked. That's why the water overflows inside the car. worse senario you got a crack on the Evaporator Housing which is very very rare case.

Water Leak in Passenger Side Floor Vent Area after car wash

Unless this happens in the rain as well, I would not worry about it. Likely in the car wash, far more water is coming in than the normal drain system can handle, therefore causing it to overflow. If you do have a drain obstruction, find the drain hose (small right angle hose on firewall passenger side) and roll it in your fingers to clear it.

Your car probably has AC so the box under the hood has a drain for removed moisture and this can often clog with environmental debris; when that happens, the water can't drain any more and may end up inside the car.

When the ac is running it makes a bubbling gargling sound. when the car takes off from a stop you can hear water rushing and rolling about the engine compartment.

Sounds like you might have a plugged drain hose from your condensor overflow reservoir. All of the water that drips off the condensor while you run your AC has to go somewhere. It's located under the passenger floor board and if it's not draining properly you can get a lot of water sitting in there.

really this could be one of several issues, does the vehicle run Hot, are you having to fill the reservoir with water or coolant, there is a hose that runs from the cap (overflow hose) to the reservoir, in addition to the upper and lower hoses, finally the water pump. the water pump is equipped with weep holes, which allow fluid to weep out when the pump is bad. finally the thermostat, hopefully one of these can solve your issue, good luck!
