Best way is to remove cross member 2 bolts each side , two in mount. slide out cross member and remove old mount from bottom of trans , slide member into place, will need jack stands or lift to hold car use jack to trans lift to take pressure off cross member, sometimes exhaust or drive shaft may have to be removed for clearance problems.

I am restoring a 84 mustang hatchback L/LX. It has a blown V6 in it. I want to put a V8 in it ,what all do I have to change on the car to do this? Do I have to change the k-member?

depending on what V8 ,,, you may have to change the cross member, and the mounts for sure, possibly the ****** mounts , the biggest problem your going to have in this switch, is the side to side clearance not the front to back so much, againm depending on what V8 your trying to install

Hi I would like to know where is the neutral safety switch on my mustang 2000, thank you for your help!!! Gilles

If its a manual tranny the neutral safety switch is mounted on the clutch pedal linkage under the dash,

if its a automatic its mounted on the side of the tranny where the linkage connects

Hope this helps

I have a 96 mustang gt with a auto trans it

Old fluid and filter, maybe the modulator. Could need tranny service but changing the fluid is cheapest route to start with.

Putting a 302 in a 99 mustang

You'll need the K-member from a 94'-95' v6 or GT, along with the correct motor mounts. once you have that it should drop right in. But there are many more parts you'll need to make it work like a 5.0 tranny, exhaust, wiring, pcm, radiator, and maybe more. Look in the Ford Racing catalog and drop a 4.6L Cobra motor in there. A lot fewer parts to buy. Also if your state has car inspections the 5.0 is not OBDII, and should only be attempted if its going to be a "race only" car.

V8 swap

At a minimum you would need to swap the motor mounts and change the springs to V8 springs.

83 mustang gt

In a 83 MUSTANG GT the correct answer is BOTH. As a 5.0L and a TURBO CHARGED 4 cyinder were offered.

1983 Mustang GT
  • Engine:
    • 5.0L horsepower increased to 175 HP when 4V carb replaced 2V carb from 1982 (Holley 4180C series).
    • Exhaust system was revised (less restrictive).
    • 4-speed SROD was only transmission available until early December 1982. In December, new 5-speed T5 became standard GT transmission (4-speed remained on option list).
    • Block and crank were revised to accomodate a 1-piece rear main seal in December 1982.
    • The new "Turbo GT" with a turbo charged 4 cylinder engine was available beginning late in the model year - 145 HP and featured the same suspension and other features of the V8 Mustang GT.
