1 Answer

I can hear a anoying sound, like a huming that is most prevlent around 40 mile per hrr, arond 70 or so it goes away, kinda sounds like a rearend bearing going bad i had problems with when i had a 89 chevy dually, only it sounds like it is coming out of the dash, or towards the front, trans. shifts ok, other than that humming the 2003 denali runs cool and shifs good what could it be ? please respond thanks Robertgrayeagle

Difficult to diagnose. Do you have standard shift or an automatic transmission? Most are auto so I'd look for something like universal joints or it might just be some minor motor. A humming sound might also be some motor under the dash like the blower fan. If your truck is running fine and the humming is an annoyance maybe a body shop could help. Does the truck vibrate or have handling problems? Do you have 2 or 4 wheel drive? A transmission shop could give you a better picture of what's going on. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hello
Sounds to me like it could be a wheel bearing bad the best way to tell without tearing it apart would be when you are driving down the road and it is making the noise slightly turn the steering wheel left and right if the noise changes at all then it is the wheel bearing pretty commen problem
good luck
Chris

Ticking sounds like a dry lifter, when was the last time you changed the oil and filter? Humming sounds like you need a tire rotation because of uneven tire wear.

Get the codes pulled, sounds like you are in limp mode and I am guessing an issue with the transmission.

My 1999 ford expidition sounds like its shifting in overdrive when i reach about 40 miles per hour, the engine gets loud sounds a jet taking off.

You have it backwards

What you hear is engine noise from
higher rpm, because your trans is not
upshifting, as a result of your input on
the gas pedal

You need to have a trans or repair shop find out why
you have a delayed or no shift condition

When you get to 4th or 5th gear (overdrive) you also
get torque converter lock-up & things should get quieter
