Have you new water pump checked, it seems like it could have a collapsed bearing and you have lost your coolant.

I would check to see if the water pump was installed properly. It may not have been tightened on properly and now it has come loose and is leaking.

PT Criuser has been running hot and now makes a loud chirping sound when cranked up . What causes this ?

my guess is your water pump is not working properly and the loud chirping sound is from the serpentine belt which also runs the water pump, alternator, ac and steering pump. first thing to check is coolant the cooling fan , thermostat , water pump in this order. chirping sound definitely come from the belt but the cause could come from any of the driven part but im zeroing in on the water pump because the car is running hot. old belt could also cause the chirping.

Motor sounds like a bunch of Indians trying to get out.

sounds to me like you could have damaged the oil pump, running low on oil can cause numerous things to fail.. possibly spun the rod bearings and they are beating on the crank. I wouldn't start it, but if the noise is in the bottom I would drop the oil pan.

Occassionally wont start in the morning when cold. Will crank over, has done this twice in the last two weeks, it sounds like the fuel pump is kicking on. when it does start (hours later) it runs fine

My guess is that you need to buy a new battery. Hear that clicking sound? That's your solenoid telling you it's not getting the juice it needs to turn over the engine. The dash and dome lights might work but there's not enough amps to start. It's only going to get worse. It's very easy to install a new battery yourself. Make sure the terminal and cables are in good shape. You shold also clean the battery area with a mixture of baking soda and water to neturalize the acid.

Turn the starter nothing..turn starter nothing...lights &radio work..keep turning and finally it will start but it makes a dragy sound first like the battery is dead

Everything makes sense - except "makes a dragy sound first like the battery is dead" I am not being a smart *** here - but the sound of a dead battery is SILENCE.

You can crank your engine... but is needs lots of cranking before it will finally start... is that right?

The device that sets the fuel injectors intake to start (rich mixture) may not be working - or may be dirty.

Try spraying fuel injector cleaner into your air filter line (AFTER the air filter) with the engine running. That will clean things and may clear your problem...
If not, you will need a device replacement - described as the equivalent of a "Choke" on a fuel injection system.

Have you tried to checking the tensioner and the idler pulley? The idler is a fixed pulley on the driver side of the alternator. Most of the time this gets rusted during sudden change in the weather or its just the bearing inside it just worned off.

Engine starts, but won't stay started unless I step on the gas.

It sounds like to me your mechanic recommened you change your timing belt and water pump due to a maintance issue. If vehicle still runs good with old timing belt new belt wont change running. Cold weather and low cranking amps (poor battery) will cause starting problems.
