Yes it can be low steering fluid causing the steering noise, but if the fluid is full then it can be faulty pump causing this. If you have to rev up the engine to move the wheels, suspect the pump is not good. If you have to add oil because it was low, the pump could already have been damaged by low oil.If your noise is with the car standing still, the sound is probably from the pump. ----------- First remove air filter snorkel assembly , unhook purge shut off valve on back of intake manifold ;just remove one bolt and let sensor hang there out of the way.Remove 8 bolts holding manifold to block , if you want to block off the glycol flow to the manifold like some people do for more performance; perfect time to loop intake and return hoses that make changing the gasket a bit more awkward when still attached. Put a light coating of grease on both sides of gasket before installing .---------- Leave the fuel lines hooked up to the fuel rail.its really not that long as you have the tools. You will need need some long extensions to get at the lower middle nuts. You can also just leave the fuel lines along and remove the two 12mm bolts that hold the entire rail on and pop the injectors out (just be careful not to damage the o-rings and spray they with silicone before they go back in ). ------------ This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

2006 Nissan Murano has exhaust noise coming from rear manifold vicinity. No visible cracks or corrosion

The cracked in the right side manifold is visible when you look up from the upper oil pan area to the underside manifold, the crack is small in the front runner. it takes 2 to 3 hours to replace it thru wheel well area.

1987 Ford f350 lariat idles louder than usual and makes ticking sound that it used to not do. Been told few times it's an exhaust leak... Not sure. Any suggestions? And how expensive is it to get an...

There is a tick noise that comes from a failed exhaust gasket or cracked manifold. You will have to remove the manifold to replace the gasket. To go to all that trouble I would have the manifold machined to ensure that it is straight as they have a tendency to warp from the heat and from incorrect tensioning sequence of the manifold bolts/studs

Noise coming from near the engine, friends have told me it may be a cracked exhaust manifold.

Yes, that is possible. Or exhaust manifold gasket. I would need more details on area of noise, and do you see or smell exhaust from that areas? Let me know , glad to help you, thanks Mike

Saab 1885 900 se has whirling noise when trying to

If the noise is just a spinning sound and not a grinding, than you're starter solinoid is probably bad.
You're best bet is to replace the starter. Hope this helps.

2005 XC90 T6 AWD making a whirling noise upon acceleration

Add me to the list. Just got back from a Volvo dealership in Chicago and was told the 'winding' noise we're experiencing during deceleration in our 2004 XC90 is due to a failing transmission,so i would suspect the same accelerating. hope all works out for you

96' toyota corolla Exhaust Manifold Keeps Cracking

Sounds weird that this problem keep occurring over and over. Does it crack in the same spot every time?

Only two things I can think of that would cause this problem.
1. Extensive over heating, I've seen a exhaust manifold get glowing red hot because of a bad oxygen sensor.

2. Excessive Vibration. The whole exhaust line to the back of the car is moving around too much or too stiff. The exhaust line needs to move around enough to take the movement/vibration of the engine. I would check out for bad motor mounts and worn out exhaust pipe mounts.
