My cruise control won't work. Doesn't seem to come on when I set the switch. OBD scanner does not show any codes or test failures related to the cruise control. 96 GMC Sierra K-1500

If you got a scanner, not a code reader, and you
get yourself a wiring diagram,it should be a
fairly easy fix

What's the difference between the scanner and code reader? Mine is an OBDCOM.

I assume the wiring diagram is in the maintenance manual I bought?
Like I said, no error codes or test failures.

How to fix cruise control on a 2006 ford freestar, does not work at all, wont turn on

Note the diagram, at least check the fuse. Check trouble codes, related to cruise control. to check codes yourself, at least, you need an obd2 code reader that will read po codes as well as manufacturer specific codes. It is worth the investment, in my opinion. Make sure the brake lites work.

Cruise control won't work

If the fuses and electrical connections are ok, check fault codes stored there, will need OBD scanner reader tool in order to access.

Hope helps.

Testing the electrical inputs to the control module from the switch . Testing power an ground circuits to the switch . As a professional technician this is how i go about find what is wrong ! Not just replacing parts , that gets expensive. Do you know what a wiring diagram is ,an how to use one to pin point areas to do testing ? Here is a site for free wiring diagrams . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter your vehicle info. Year , make , model and engine size . Then under system click on Engine , then under subsystem click on speed controls . Click the search button , then on the blue link . You will see all the componets an wiring for the system . Do you know how to use a volt meter ?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If everything is good then the problem will be the control column lever switch. It surely is fried that's why it won't communicate to the cruise control. I strongly suggest that you have the control column switch replaced to resolve the issue. You may get one from the junkyard to cut the cost.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Did not pass state inspection (vehicle)

First the fault codes,
U110C is No Fuel Level Bus Message
U0155 is No Cluster Bus Message.
Unfortunatly you have to be able to communicate with the instrument cluster with your scanner to diagnoise and I do not think an aftermarket scanner can do this.
