On the diesels you need the bigger diagnostic tool like snapon or dealer. they are pinned diferently and a generic obd2 reader wont even receive power.

Trouble starting wets speak plug

The first thing that you must do here is to have the systems computer checked for fault codes, it should have a few in memory. the codes are read through the diagnostic port under the dash.

Upon starting my truck if I leave map sensor plug in it don t load up as but it still does some unplug it after it warms up runs good but it bucks and misses computer port won't read diag.tool

year/make/model helps greatly!! Most problems with scan tool connections at diagnostic plugs are lack of power at the plug. The power normally comes from the lighter fuse. If the lighter is not working, suspect no power to plug. I wouldn't toss parts at the vehicle until you get a heads up from a diagnostic scan and retrieve any codes that may pertain to your issue

How do I read the codes on my 2002 Cadillac deville?

Plug a diagnostic computer in to the EODB port and the device will display error codes on screen, you can then cross reference them to find out the areas to check.

Diagnostic port locationion

This car was built by Kia in South Korea. I think it used the same data plug other Ford products used during that model year. If so, it should have a plug with 6 terminals and a pigtail wire in the engine compartment. You can use a Ford style scanner or connect an ordinary analog volt meter to read codes. Look for Ford OBD1 code reading online for more info.

2002 chevy camaro diagnostic port not working I cant get reading when I plug into diagnostic port.

Check your grounds. Check on top of the port. I found a penny on the top of mine and it shorted out the brain box. Take to autozone, orielly's or advance auto to get hooked uo for FREE. They might help. I had to replace the brainbox.

Service engine soon light came on

The reason the "Check Engine" light comes on is because one of the sensors attached to your vehicle's engine is throwing a signal to the car's computer saying that there is a problem. The problem can be found by plugging into the car's diagnostic port and finding the error code, then fixing the problem. There's one problem with the old "plug a paperclip into the diagnostic port and read codes" trick-it only works on pre-1995 cars, which use OBD1 systems. Cars 1995 to present are OBD2, which require that you use a code scanner. You can purchase a code scanner at just about any car parts store, which can be rather costly and is recommended to be left to having a qualified tech do a computer scan.
I know this tool is helpful for your car.

Volvo v70 abs light and mil light on. no coms with diagnostic socket, all fuses are ok. no 12v at diag socket, so no diag tools will work.

Are you plugging into the obd2 diagnostics port under the dash or the diagnostics port under the hood? You should be plugged in under the dash to read codes for the MIL / ABS light. Just a heads up as well most scanners you can buy from the part stores do not have the necessary program protocols to read European cars.

How do you pull codes from a 98 bonneville

k, the diagnostic port is located under the dash on the driver's side. Bring the Pontiac to a parts store. They will plug a hand held scan tool into the port and 'read' any codes stored on the car's computer. This is a FREE service. Good luck.
