What can I do to fix this problem?
Ford F150 stalls after ignition if not held at 1000 rpm.

There is a rattling at the top of the header cover on the passenger side coming from a vacuum hose with a plastic piece leading into the header. What is causing it to rattle? Does the air filter need to be changed and if so which one?

a leak or a clog? it seams to be constricting the air flow not allowing for the truck to receive enough air flow.

How dose a stall converter work in a ford with a c6 transmishion

The stall in a converter is when the internal parts of the converter lock and has the same rpm,s as the engine. Transferred to the transmission input shaft. Factory is 1000 to 1500 rpm stall. Put another way. You have a 1500 stall converter, when you floor the gas pedal and the rpm,s go to 1500 real fast, the rear tires will spin faster than the vehicle is going. Don't put a larger stall in a vehicle that isn't built to take the torque. Ie.. Upgraded engine, transmission and rear differential. Some thing will break.

Stalls and no start with code p0320 on a 1996 ford f150 5.0

Code 320 is for a problem with the RPM input to the computer, which could be the distributor or the ignition module.

Check out your Thermal vacuum tree and your Thermostat. The scanner may be blaming the part when in fact the part does not have vacuum until the engine reaches a certain temperature. A weak Thermostat will prevent the engine from changing the Ignition timing quickly.

Some of the engines used water temperature as part of the choke system. The Thermal vacuum tree would route the vacuum to different dashpots and solenoids. Not only would cold temperatures activate RPM increases, but separate dashpots would trip when the engine was hot enough to run without the choke stepup and drop the RPM down to curb idle.

This made choke settings hard to set because it took so long to cool down the block to make further adjustments. The Ignition advance was regulated by water temperature so the stalling and spitting back is from retarded timing.

Remember to use your scanner to wipe the memory clean after each repair. Look for the Vacuum routing label under the hood to make sure the hoses are correct.

My '96 F150 is running rough and stalls. Also, while idling the tach was bouncing from 500 to 1000 rpm but not all the time. The mechanic replaced an ignition module, but it's still doing it. Any ideas?...

When the engine is cool, start the engine and try to get your figers or a screwdriver blade into the top section of the EGR valve and lift it. It should make the engine stall or near to it, If it does not it is hung up inthe open position and has to be removed and cleaned with overnight oven cleaner. Only spray the lowae parts not the diaframatic control on top.

Check EGR valve its probably stuck open cause of carbon build up. Check and or replace.
EGR valve controls idle speed.

sounds almost like the newer vehicles equiped with cam sensors instead of the distributer system i had a similar problem with an 87 ford bronco 2 it would stall out right around 2800 rpm i replaced the control module usually mounted on the distributer at least mine was and it fixed it right up but as for ur truck im not sure they are only like 30 bucks at autozone or something worth a try right??
