Question about 2000 Chrysler Cirrus

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Chrysler cirrus and have had a problem with the engine smoking underneath where u put in the steering fluid (located underneath the lip where the passenger wiper is when hood is up) I've already had a head gasket changed prior and the car looked at and the mechanic said all it was, was fluid on a manifold and that it would burn off and stop eventually. Even after a few months the problem persists and it almost seems worse. I just need to a hand narrowing the problem out. Ex. Loose hose, old values, possible head gasket damage .........

Its hard to diagnose this with out looking at the motor and finding the leak... sounds like you have some power steering fluid leaking onto your motor. check the power steering lines for leaks. fix the leak..and clean the motor.. if you cannot find a leak.. try power washing the motor... do this by turning on the car and degreasing the motor where you see oil stay away from the spark plugs and distributor and battery terminals while washing the motor.. Good luck..

I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus and it has started making a lot of noise when turning the steering wheel. It sounds like the noise ispossible coming from the front around the suspension area on the drivers...

it sounds like the power steering pump is crying for more fluid. stop by your local auto parts store and get some power steering fluid. you will see the reservoir for the fluid in the engine compartment - it is located on the pump motor and has a twist off cap and a small hot/cold fill dipstick. if the engine is cold - fill to the cold line and then start the car and drive and this should solve your problem.
have a Happy New Year !!!

Transmission fluid

The transmission fluid is added in the transmission dipstick tube, while the engine is running. Use a funnel that's not going to flip over when it gets full. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Steering is really stiff after replacing power steering pump on 2000 chrysler cirrus??

Is the drive belt adjusted properly. Did you bleed all air from the system after installing the pump? Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from left to right fully 10 times. This will remove any trapped air. Check the fluid level and top it off.
