Question about Chevrolet Cavalier

1998 chevy cavalier,2.2lit. standard tranny. after erasing the code P0452. with two different scan tools, the code remains. could this be a computer problem. after erasing the with koeo,both scan tools said erase succ. or command sent. but the code remains. need some devine help. please advise

This code is for FTP (Fuel Tank Pressure) being too low. This can be caused from a defective gas cap. I would start here then work my way to the fuel pressure tank sensor. Check this information and visit the link in the last lines. The solution isn't just delete the code, need to check the sensor and fix the problem, if not, the code pop-up again.

P0452 - Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input
An excessively low voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM.

The EVAP control system pressure sensor detects pressure in the purge line. The sensor output voltage to the ECM increases as pressure increases. The EVAP control system pressure sensor is not used to control the engine system. It is used only for on board diagnosis.

Symptoms: Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

Possible causes:
- The EVAP control system pressure sensor circuit is open or shorted
- EVAP control system pressure sensor may be faulty

Possible solution:
- Retight gas cap - Replaced EVAP Control System Pressure Sensor

    Evaporative Emission Control System

    Evaporative Emissions Canister

    Generally, the only testing done to the canister is a visual inspection. Look the canister over and replace it with a new one if there is any evidence of cracks or other damage.

    Canister Purge Control Valve

    1. Connect a clean length of hose to the fuel tank vapor line connection on the canister and attempt to blow through the purge control valve. It should be difficult or impossible to blow through the purge control valve. If air passes easily, the valve is stuck open and should be replaced.
    2. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to the top vacuum line fitting of the purge control valve. Apply a vacuum of 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) to the purge valve diaphragm. If the diaphragm does not hold vacuum for at least 20 seconds, the diaphragm is leaking. Replace the control valve. If it is impossible to blow through the valve, it is stuck closed and must be replaced.
    3. On vehicles with a solenoid activated purge control valve, unplug the connector and use jumper wires to supply 12 volts to the solenoid connections on the valve. With the vacuum still applied to the control vacuum tube, the purge control valve should open and it should be easy to blow through. If not, replace the valve.

    1. Using a hand-held vacuum pump, apply a vacuum of 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) through the control vacuum signal tube to the purge valve diaphragm. If the diaphragm does not hold vacuum for at least 20 seconds, the diaphragm is leaking. Replace the control valve.
    2. With the vacuum still applied to the control vacuum tube, attach a short piece of hose to the valve's tank tube side and blow into the hose. Air should pass through the valve. If it does not, replace the control valve.

    Tank Pressure Sensor (1996-00 Models Only)

    The fuel tank pressure sensor is tested using the GM Tech-1A® scan tool or equivalent. The sensor must be monitored and compared with pressure values using the EVAP system test port and the pressure tester. Follow the instructions included with the scan tool and/or use the guided diagnostics on the scan tool.

    I had this code after installing a new fuel pump and the O-ring that goes between the tank and the fuel pump assembly was damaged upon inspection. This will also cause the light to come on.

Po452 and po446 on 04 chevy silverado have replaced fuel pressure sensor and reset but code po452 keep poping up

P0452 evap control pressure low, P0 446 evap vent contol circuit. Becuase you have P0452 you are dealing with a eletrical issue whether you have positive tank pressure or negative pressure, The tool for this is a volt meter.452 happens when you positive pressure and the FTP reads less than 0.1 volts.You need to jump the signal and the reference and monitor the take parameter on a scan data you should read reference voltage.Now if you dont have a scan data tool. inspect the wire for any breaks or shorting 2 thing of concern broken wire to the FTP or a ECM is needed.

Some fault code is stored in the PCM (computer); to know what is the problem, I suggest scanned the PCM with some scanner reader codes. Autozone or AutoShop with this tools sometimes make this for free.

99 cavalier dtc p0452 fuel pressure sensor,i replaced sensor cel wont clear code, pcm?

did you try to remove the code # with a diagnostic code retrieveing tool, this will remove the light from being on in the system, providing the computer is functioning properly, if you do not have the tool to do this with, then disconnect your positive battery cable, for about 1 minute, then reconnect it back up, and see if light is out. you will have to reset your vehicles clock, and possibly some radio functions.

what country are you in, USA/? we are
what engine is there, ? we have like 2, but more outside USE
must we guess both facts?
so the engine runs great that it, all things ok but the trans fails to shift due to obvious , limphome (limp-in) mode ! that it?
You just want shifting to work, right>?

what is the nss, ( that is not an legit term)(VSS???)
(sure tranny bad , VSS swapped, but was not it)
sure.... as is the case most times here. not scanned correctly

first off learn rule one on EFI cars
you can NOT ERASE problems, or you can't erase REALITY.
problems are cured then , you push reset and see if they return
if they DO? THEY ARE REAL and must be corrected.

p-700 means do a full scan of the Tranny TCM to see all errors there
you scan tool is weak. my guess and can not do jeep factory codes
that transmission TCM is in limphome mode.
by light you meant CEL, check engine Lamp that is its name
and comes on for smog fail and other things, (gross errors DRIVE LINE all)
p0700 means (TCM has errors stored, only)
p0100?? that must be a wrong code, written down. says export only.
143 = O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
the oxy sensor B1S3 reads, 0volts all the time, so is bad.
did you replace S3 or the wrong sensor.
on calif 4L it has a split exh, man with 3 sensors, is that your engine? if yes, its the extereme rear o2, (smog only sensor)
S3 is CAT check sensors.

we have 2 engines, only in USA< (EPA regs)
2.5L and 4.0L GAS only.
and rule 2, is the transmissions match engines, power. rating!
so there is no one transmission fits all engines.
I owned a 99XJ so know it well.
the export car had a 2.5L diesel , a total different setup end to end.
i have the USA service manual open
there is no p0100 code on any Gas engine , usa.
type or is this DIESEL, post?> why not post engine and fuel first.
that tells me drive line (a/t)

takes a matching scan tool to scan this box
ISO-9141. is such a tool, spec.
and needs to read P17xx codes (jeeps) too, or you fail.

our 2.5L gas uses the 30RL trans.
the 4.0L gas (petrol) use the AW4 ,tranny "aisin warner box" with TCM brain
what the diesel uses, is not in my book (USA SM)

now my recommendation
drive to any shop
ask for the transmission to be scanned
do not pull your battery cable.
do not push reset. on your cheap or tool old tool.
leave the codes stored in the TCM so the man can scan it
and win.
oddly my jeep book does not explain, oxy sensor 1/3 at all. just that it reads 0v all the time 143 code, odd that.

1996 chevy cavalier DIAGNOSTIC CODES

TCC is torque converter clutch circuit which helps tranny shift smoother and is in front off tranny.
Random cyl miss. Most likely bad plug wire or faulty coil pack $45
Transmision pressure switch sends info to computer about tranny pressure and the switch controls it. $400

I have 1999 chevy cavalier. My ABS light is oh.

Drive it. Then have the rear abs brake sensors checked because they seem to be the first to go in a system like that. Someone with a scan tool should be able to read out any trouble codes in the abs system

1998 chey cavalier will not shift out of 1st gear while driving. Fluid is at the correct level as well.

Maybe your 1-2 solaniod in your tranny is faulty, any shop with a scan tool can tell you whats up with it, you might have to pay them for diagnosing it, though.
 Just had a brain freeze, Auto Zone can scan your car and Parts Source and should tell you what's wrong and the last time i know it was no charge,
 Well it is here LOL Good luck and hope this help. It might just be as simple as a bad speed sensor or lose wire from the sensor.
