If it still happens after changing the battery also then check the fuses and wiring deeply. There is no other thing which can stop this.

What steps do you need to go through to replace the battery on a 2006 325xi?

Before pulling out the old battery, you should write down the code of your radio so that when you install the new battery the radio will be asking for the operation code.
Replacing battery for that model should be less than 5 minutes to install new one, otherwise everything will be reset.
Hope that helps you out!
