SOURCE: 98 cadillac deville battery wont hold a charge

sounds like a 12V drain on the system, like a trunk or glove box light that won't shut off.> Could be many. many other reasons why. The way I would find the draining circuit would be to remove the neg cable of the battery. I then would connect a 12V test light between the neg battery TERMINAL and the neg battery CABLE. With a 12V drain the light will shine. I would install into the light a 9V battery powered recepticle to hold computer and radio station memory. Then I remove fuses 1 at a time, then reinstall, at the same time looking for the 12V light to go out. Hope this helps.

Where is the fuse on 01 Cadillac deville for the ecm located

check the manual - if you don't have one see here:
http://www.vadengmpp.com/owners-manual/cadillac/2001-Cadillac-Deville.pdf

Instructions for ECM-reset:
1 Loosen the bolt on the black battery cable until the connector opens enough to come off the battery stud. Place a piece of cardboard between the cable and the stud to ensure no electrical connection remains.
  • 2 Turn the headlights on for several seconds to use up any stored power, then return them to the "off" position.
  • 3 Remove the cardboard and reconnect the battery cable by reversing the previous steps. The ECM has been reset to a clean state.

    Where is the h2o pump

When looking at the engine from the front, it is on the right middle of the engine, you will see a black METAL shroud on the end of the valve cover, under that shroud is a belt and pulley and a tensioner, next to that tensioner is the water impeller. Its about a two hour job to replace the impeller, and you will need a specialized GM tool to remove the water pump impeller, Orielly's rents them over the counter. If you're engine is over heating though, it most likely isn't the water pump. These 98,99 cadillacs have infamous head gasket problems. www.cadillacforums.com Check it out for yourself.

Its on passenger side under rear seat cushion. Get in back seat FACING rear seatback, grab under lip of bottom seat cushion, and pull straight up. Disconnect seat heater connector (if so equipped) on passenger side and remove seat bottom. Tada! There ya go! Oh... btw. Its a $150 battery due to the venting system designed into it to vent fumes through a tube to the outside world. Thanks Cadillac!!! :(

Looking for my battery on a 2004 cadillac deville

the battery is located under the rear seat cushion on your cadillac deville, to remove the rear seat cushion just pull up on the front of the cushion to release it and pull it forward. you will see the battery and a fuse block.

there are also terminals under the hood that run directly to the battery for jumpstarting but going to the battery itself is the best way. those re-located terminals don't usually work because the amperage has to travel pretty far to get to the battery.
