Question about 2005 Buick Rainier

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Buick Rainier 6 cyl awd. I have an issue that doesn't happen all the time and the dealer can not find the problem I've taken it in several times. While driving my dim lights will turn off but the rest of my lights such as turn signal, brake and such stay on, when the dims turn off I turn on my High beams which work, then with out notice my dims will start to work again. Please advise Thank you in advance.

In the fuse box under the hood, swap relay #45 with relay #46. Both are the same relay, one for the lowbeams and the other is for the fan. You should have lights now. Clean the contacts on the relay and in the fuse box very well. Very common problem, suprised the dealer didn't catch this.

So, next time this happens, swap them out to see if the lights go back on. I keep a new relay in my glovebox just in case. But since cleaning mine 2years ago, hasn't happend again.

The Buick Rainier is AWD and doesn't give you the option. Only the TrailBlazer and Envoy have the option to switch to 2WD or 4WD.

2004 rainier egr valve location

Well, we have a couple problems here.

First of all, 2005 Buick Rainier is equipped with two different engines, 4.2L (VIN code "S") and the 5.3L (VIN code "P"). It would be really nice to know which one we are talking about.

Then, it doesn't really matter which engine your Buick is equipped with if you are looking for an EGR valve, because NEITHER of these engines is equipped with one.

What is wrong w/04 buick raininer awd dont work, service light does not come on ?

There are 2 types of AWD full time and part time.In AWD there is difference in speed from front to rear These system are not selectable and do not have low range. There is also on demand AWD.This is a 30% to front and 70% to rear. To truly diagnosis your concern is with a comparision vehicle.

I will do some research on the headlight problem. An awd system should not bind in a turn like a 4wd does on dry pavement, because the awd has a limited slip differential. And any kind of noise coming from the rearend is NOT normal. You should report the dealership employee that told you this to the factory regional representative. It borders on gross negligence.

go to an independant mechanic.a dealership will try to tell you things are wrong that arent and that you need to fix this or that while they have it there and then want to charge you 70 dollars an hour for the time they spend working on it.
