it could be a faulty earth or a faulty wiper switch or even a damaged return switch on the motor that tell it to turn off power when in the right position. most likley the switch in the motor.

Winshield wipers stop and go on their own

Yes, it could be the switch, a worn switch is capable of acting like that. Given its age, it's a good possibility. One thing better than an educated guess is a wiring diagram and a voltmeter and a chance to catch it when it's happening-but that is 3 things, simultaneously.

Your last sentence got cut off. I believe I would try a new or different switch.

I have a 1991 honda accord coupe. the taillights stay on all the time. what do i do to make them turn off?

the tail lights? theres two signals. is it the park lights stay on or the stop lights stay on??? is your stop lights stay on, go under the dash board right in front or behind the brake pedal you will see a switch. dicconect it. then check the lights again. if there off buy a new stop light switch and reinstall it. and recheck it again. also before you buy it, check the relay for the stop lights too. remove it and check. then put another from another function. huh horn, headligh a/c blower just to test it then put it back,. let me know

Y Reg Ford Fiesta - front windscreen wipers are out of synch and keep hitting into each other. How do I get them to move in unison with each other again? You don't appear to have this listed so had to...

When the wipers are switched off (in the parked position) ensure the wiper arms have stopped in the normal 'wipers parked' position.
If not, loosen off (or remove) each wiper arm from the wiper arm drive shaft, then re-place in the correct position.
If both wiper arms are in the correct 'wipers parked' position when not in use, they should then operate correctly in unison.

1994 Accord wipers won't turn off unless the drivers door is open

This sort of problem is most common in vehicles that have been in recent accident.Whats happening is the ground portion of the circuit has poor connection at one of the ground wire clusters.(honda groups several ground wires from seperate circuits into one connector that in turn bolts to the body.)what happens is where that common connector attaches to frame of car gets crushed in collision and or is left loose. One or more of these electrical circuits then continuously searches for its next route to complete a power loop, which is through the first ground in cluster that makes a strong connection to frame. this causes circuits to cross with each other. As in whats happening with your wipers and courtesy light circuits.unfortunately at the moment i dont have electrical schematic in ft of me for your car to be able to tell you exactly where that ground cluster would be located at.Most likely it will be located in the area behind headlights, behind inner fender liners, or along strut towers front or rear. But can promise that this is the culprit behind your problem.Good Luck,Joel
