The blower motor resistor is located on the passenger side air box . you will need to remove the lower panel under the dash to gain access to the resistor . it is in the very back of the air box assembly near the fire wall . It is held in with two screws , you will need a 5.5mm or a 7mm socket (1/4 inch ) and short ext . the socket should be a swivel type .

It is located under the glove copartment on the passenger side. you have to take out the three plugs holding the carpet on then look back behind the blower motor. take of the three screws holding on the blower motor, that way you can get to the resistor. take of the only screw on the front of the resistor assy. , then use a 7/32 wrench and ease the screw that you can see out of the back of the assy. then just use plyers and take it out. then just do every thing in reverse to put the new one back in!!!
I think some swivle sockets would really help

01 grand.prix ac fan switch only works on high. has a duel temp controller when you turn fan off the only way fan comes back on is to move the temp controller levers

Hi!!
When the Blower Motor Resistor (controls blower speeds) goes bad, the blower motor works only on HIGH SPEED. REPLACE IT.
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR Removal & Installation
  • Disconnect negative battery cable.
  • Remove right lower instrument panel insulator panel.
  • Disconnect blower resistor connector located behind right side of dash.
  • Remove blower resistor screws and blower resistor.
To install, reverse removal procedure
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

2002 pontiac grand prix,no running lights, noblower motor,no back window defogger

I've been thru this mess... Replace the ignition switch (not the key portion) located inside the steering column. Don't waste your money replacing the blower motor and/or blower resistor. This is a common issue on this make/model Pontic.

for the fan blower motor it could be the resistor or the fan control speed control switch is bad.for no lights replace the DRL RELAY for the lights. for the heated seats check the fuses.

Fan only works in the off and 5 position, does not work in 1to 4

You probably need to replace the blower motor resistor. Located on the blower motor below your glovebox. about $25 for the resistor.

I'm looking for the location of the resistor on the blower motor of a 99 pontiac grand prix

If it is the same as a 2002 Grand Prix the resistor is located on the firewall behind the blower motor up under the glove box. You need to remove the blower motor to get to it.

Heater fan controls

You most likely need to replace the blower motor resistor. Two of my grand prix vehicles had the same problem. HI speed bypasses the resistor...which is why it still works. Speeds 1-4 go through the resistor. It's not too big a deal to change on my cars if you're small, can stand on your head and dislocate your should to get to it. (It's located next to the firewall on the passenger side.) Resistors for my car run around $30. Good luck.
