I have a 89 f250 7.3 i put a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, flywheel, master cylinder, and slave cylinder and bleed it a bunch of times and i still barely have any pedal and it will not go...


Check the clutch lever that goes through the bell housing. This is what throws out the clutch. It may be bent, or worn where it pivots on a ball and rod. Also the rod and ball may be excessively worn.

If these are good, look at the hose between the master and slave cylinders. Put the vehicle on jack stands, and watch the hose as someone presses the clutch repeatedly. Make sure the hose is not expanding.

How to change a clutch master cylinder on a 2006 toyota tacoma


remove line from the side of clutch master cylinder two bolts or nuts on firewall inside vehicle is a pin on the upper side of clutch remove and pull old unit out bench bleed new master by filling and pressing in on the piston of the master cylinder. if you dont have a hose fitting dont bench bleed bleed it in vehicle( this method takes longer) install back in vehicle and hook it all back up torque bolts to 25 ft lbs then bleed the slve cylinder from under vehicle near back of motor just like bleeding brakes pump up hold and release the line pressure by opening valve on slave cylinder.

Why does clutch leak off and wont go into gear 96 toyota tacoma when you push on clutch pedal goes to the floor it wont engage clutch to be able to put into gear


the most likely reason is either the clutch master cyl. needs to be replaced.or the.slave cyl. its mounted down on the transmation under the hood find the resivore for the clutch. check the fluid level.if its low , fill it back up , and look for signs of a leak
you will probally have to bleed out all of the air from the system.its done almost the same way as bleeding the brakes. Good Luck.

How to bleed 89 ford ranger 4x4 clutch


there is a bleeder screw by the transmission slave cylinder that you bleed the air out.just pump the clutch pedal a few times hold the pedal to the floor and have someone crack open the bleeder screw to bleed the air out then close it and repeat.make sure the master cylinder for the clutch doesn`t go low.

FIRST REMOVE ALL OLD FLUID FROM CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER YOU CAN USE A SIPHON YOU HAND PUMP.AUTO PARTS STORES SELLS THE HAND PUMP SIPHONS. THEY DONT COST MUCH AND KEEP FROM MAKING A MESS.SIPHON OUT MUCH AS YOU CAN THE OLD FLUID IN THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER.THEN POUR IN THE NEW FLUID DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID IN CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER.OKAY YOU NEED A HELPER.LOCATE THE SLAVE CYLINDER.REMOVE SLAVE CYLINDER HOLD SLAVE CYLINDER 45 DEGREES WITH BLEEDER SCREW LOCATED AT THE HIGHEST POINT.HAVE A SMALL DRAIN PAN UNDER SLAVE CYLINDER.HAVE HELPER FULLY DEPRESS AND HOLD THE CLUTCH PEDAL THEN OPEN BLEED SCREW.CLOSE THE BLEED SCREW AND HAVE HELPER RELEASE THE CLUTCH PEDAL.REPEAT THIS PROCESS UNTIL ALL THE OLD BRAKE FLUID AND AIR BUBBLES LEAVES THE HYDRALIC SYSTEM AND WHEN YOU CAN SEE GOOD STREAM CLEAN FLUID NO BUBBLES YOU HAVE GOOD SOLID CLUTCH ALL IS GOOD.MAKE SURE THROUGH THE BLEEDING PROCESS YOU DONT LET CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER RUN DRY OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.KEEP CLUTCH MASTER CYLINER FULL BRAKE FLUID WHILE DOING THE WHOLE BLEEDING AND FLUSHING PROCESS.

Where can I find the hydrolic clucth resivoir and why would it be empty. Daughters car she is in Illinois and me Florida. Not much help from here but can let her know where to look for sure?


There should be a small cup size reservoir on the fender strut tower. Looks like thing in upper right corner of below picture. What usually happens to hydraulic clutches when they draw air, it the slave cylinder on the side of the transmission leaks and must be replaced. The system can then be bled of air and proper clutch operation restored. It would be difficult to restore clutch operation just by refilling the reservoir, especially with such a small reservoir. If it is necessary to get the car moving to get it repaired (slave cylinder replacement is a big job on this car, as the transmission must be removed), one could bleed the system with the bad slave cylinder and then drive a short distance. The clutch will likely fail again after about 100 or so cycles of the pedal. I will paste the bleed instructions below. These require someone to get under the car to open the slave bleeder. Bleeding The Hydraulic System

Note: brake fluid is corrosive--please wipe any spilled fluid from painted or metal surfaces.
Manual Bleeding

  1. Fill the clutch reservoir with brake fluid. Check the reservoir level frequently and add fluid as needed.
  2. Connect one end of a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug on the slave cylinder and submerge the other end into a clear container half-filled with clean brake fluid.
  3. Slowly pump the clutch pedal 10-15 times without bring the pedal the full way up.
  4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until all of the air bubbles are removed from the system.
  5. Tighten the bleeder screw to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
  6. Refill the master cylinder to the proper level.

Replacing the clutch slave cylinder:


Removal & Installation Before servicing any vehicle, please be sure to read the precautions section, which deals with personal safety, prevention of component damage, and important points to take into consideration when servicing a motor vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder line from the transaxle by removing the C-clip.
  2. Remove the transaxle.
  3. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder bolts from the transaxle.
  4. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder.

To install:


NOTE Excessive amounts of lubricant on the input shaft splines can contaminate the clutch disc and cause clutch shudder.

  1. Lightly lubricate the inside diameter of the bearing with input shaft lubricant P/N 21005995 or equivalent.
  2. Install the clutch actuator cylinder (1) to the transaxle.
  3. Install the clutch actuator cylinder bolts.
  4. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  5. Install the transaxle.
  6. Connect the clutch master cylinder line to the transaxle by pushing it in until it seats.
  7. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.

try pumping the fork at the clutch slave with a large screw driver. make the fluid go backwards. Do not open the bleeder. I did this with a camero and it worked. hope this helps.

Changed clutch but unable to bleed the slave cylinder. Does that mean clutch master cylinder is bad? Got one from parts store but can't figure out how to take the clutch safty switch off to change it. Any...


Probably not. Bleeding clutch slave cylinders is tricky because you cant "pump it up". The master cylinder has no static valve so the best way to bleed the slave cyl. is to use gravity. Fill the master cylinder reservoir and open the bleed valve on the slave cyl. Allow fluid to drip into an open can until there's no trace of air. Close bleed valve and try clutch. If still no pedal, repeat the process. This is quite an acceptable procedure.

Did you bleed the system? When you replace the the master and/or slave cylinder you have to bleed the system just as you would with brakes. There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder. Open the bleed screw, have a helper depress and hold the clutch pedal down.Tighten the bleed screw, then release clutch. Repeat this procedure until you have removed all air from the system and the clutch pedal is firm. Keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid sucking air into the system. If you have done this, remember there is a possibility that the master or slave cylinder is defective.

Stuck clutch pedal on a Mazda B series truck


Replace both clutch slave and master cylinders, and bleed well. I've also had this happen.
