2002 Toyota celica gt manual transmission hard to shift

Toyota Celica seams to run to that problem. If you have not done it yet you will need to take the center console out around the shifter and handbrake. There are in the shifter 2 white in color hard nylon type balls with pins holding them in place. Kind of like the size of a marble. One of two things can done if they are worn and loose while in place shifter may wiggle to easy. remove them and replace them with new ones with some grease. do not install dry, oiled or wd40. what has happened the shift pattern from a normal up down flow is not anymore straight and smooth line from one gear to the next but hanging up or binding between each gear mainly if you start driving fast or shifting fast and can happen while just normal driving and shifting..If there is to much stiffness than you need to be sure grease is coating them and they are not dry.
This causes harder to shift between gears and also hanging and binding.keep in mind the shifter also is mounted to the floor in four places. If there rubber and metal spacers they also can wear and cause or asst shift pattern to be off they no grease but replaced. The whole shifter would wiggle as well. if all is not the problem then you change the the cable.why the last check the cable? if it is not missing or damaged by the ***** eye it would be the hardest thing to do alone.Good luck11_21_2011_7_22_47_pm.jpg

The gears are incredibly sloppy in my toyota celica 90' , some friends have suggested that it is just an adjustment with the clutch, as the clutch is on the floor, where is the adjustment? Imogen

make sure you don't have a leak in the clutch master or slave cylinder on the transmission as that would cause the pedal to go all the way to the floor. Check your clutch fluid level, then go back inside the car and look behind the clutch pedal like up towards the top of the clutch rod right by the firewall. You will see and adjustment nut, although I doubt that the adjustment is the problem. How long have you had this clutch in? You may need to have the clutch replaced.

Vw golf mark 2 1.8 gti 16v is hard to get in to 2nd and 4th

Sounds like you will need new shifter links, there are only available from a VW dealer and easy to install. There are two of them, they are usually white (when not covered in dirt) and plastic. They snap into place on to the metal rods for your sifter linkage (located on the back of the trany by the fire wall) when these get worn badly it makes it hard to shift into certain gears not all gears tho. A good indentation that these are worn out is a sloppy shifter. Also the linkage should be lubed up to make it easier to shift, if your shifter is not sloppy then try lubing up each link (think there is 6 pivot points) even the main slide link. Let me know if that helps.
