Check level, and if it is low add it to the proper level, but it sounds like the trans is slipping, which is bad-when you drive it, try not to allow it to slip, that is not more gas than it will take. allowing the engine to run ahead of the trans will cause irreversible damage, and you will end up replacing the trans if you allow this to happen. Hopefully it is not too far gone.
